  • NB: What I did not want to say is that make is bad because its developers are bad. I have the utmost respect for them – but they need to support early-1990s Makefiles, because the world stands on their shoulders and demands they do. I say: make their lives easier, don't use make for modern software development. Your software does not need to build on Minix 1. It really doesn't. And you don't want to support BSD, GNU make in various versions, nmake as a bonus. Commented Oct 14, 2022 at 12:11
