What does Akismet protect?
Akismet can analyze any piece of user‑submitted text to protect your website from spam.
Akismet is frequently used to prevent:
- Spam comments
- Spam pingbacks
- Spam form submissions
- Spam forum posts
- Spam WooCommerce product reviews (for protection against fraudulent orders, you will need an anti‑fraud solution)
Akismet integrates with several content management systems (CMS) and has libraries for different uses. Developers can also build their own integrations using Akismet’s API.
In WordPress, Akismet does not check spam user registrations. A third‑party plugin will be needed to use alongside Akismet to stop spam registrations.
