Product Description

Practical and comprehensive with a flash of color, this Rachael Ray hard-anodized 14-piece cookware set covers the basics for stovetop cooking, equipped for boiling, steaming, sauteing, simmering, and frying. The set includes a 1-1/2-quart covered sauce pan, a 2-quart covered sauce pan, a 3-quart covered sauce pan, a 4-1/2-quart covered sauce pot, a 4-1/2-quart covered saute pan, a 6-quart covered stockpot, an 8-inch open skillet, and a 10-inch open skillet. The sauce pans and pot come in handy for cooking breakfast oatmeal, heating up soup, making marinara sauce, or boiling pasta, and the deep saute pan works well for one-dish meals--start by browning meats or sauteing onions, then add liquid and other ingredients to finish on the stovetop or in the oven. Use the stockpot for large batches of chili, soup, or stew. Finally, the skillets offer gently curved sides for flipping food or sliding an omelet or grilled cheese sandwich easily from the pan to a plate.

Constructed in hard-anodized aluminum, the pots and pans resist dents and corrosion while distributing even heat. A nonstick treatment coats the interiors to ensure hassle-free cooking and cleaning. To transport the two saucepans, the saute pan, and the skillet to and from the stovetop, each benefits from a 7-inch long stainless-steel handle while the stockpot features two side loop handles. A loop handle tops each of the set's lids, too. For an ergonomically friendly and secure grip when handling every piece in the set, a silicone rubber sleeve covers each handle and a hanging hole perforates each long handle for storage options. The shatter-proof lids are manufactured in clear tempered glass, which allows the user to visually monitor cooking without releasing any heat or flavor. The cookware sustains oven temperatures up to 400 degrees F. For the best care, avoid the use of metal utensils while using the set. Likewise, the use of abrasive scrub pads and cleansers is discouraged. Wash the set by hand. Made in Thailand, Rachael Ray offers a limited lifetime warranty for the set. Upon shipping, the set measures 15-1/5 by 23-1/5 by 15-1/5 inches and weighs 26-1/3 pounds.

You have to be a little surprised that this Rachael Ray Cookware Set is getting such good reviews. After all, I thought that the days of the non-stick pan was over for me because of the Aluminum and Teflon we ALL want to avoid.

The recent reviews are so good on this site, and as well in so many cooking articles, that when I agonized over what set to buy my friend Jody for her birthday, they were extremely convincing. As with any thing you buy, if you can go see it first, then do that because the anodized aluminum is different, and not as durable as clad stainless steel. When I said I might get if for Jody, she swooned over it because she saw it at BBandB. When it arrived, she told all her friends, and sisters, and they were all expressing envy, so I know it is popular with the women in her circles.

I ordered this set from Amazon with the Super Saver Free shipping, and it got to me many days before the expected arrival date. It was so fast that I have to say Amazon is the best! The set arrived in perfect condition with no scratches, dents, warps, or breakage. It looks beautiful new, and the orange handles matched Jody's Italian spice boarder and wall paper, though I understand there are other colors to choose from.

My recommendation is to get the 14 piece set because of what you get above the 10 piece set. The versatility of the pots and the lids fitting every piece, even the fry pans fit the lids, so just excellent. The pot sizes for the single person or family person are great in the 14 piece set.

The quality is what I expected based upon the reviews, that is, the fry pans are heavy enough, but not too heavy, and the pots are a little thin, but not too thin. In fact, the pots seem to heat up very evenly on the electric stove burner. The fry pans work fast, and the cooking range seems to be perfect around just over medium heat. Water boiled quickly over medium heat.

Not a thing stuck to the pans or pots and cleaning was very easy. Some say that food wants to stick around the handle rivets. Since I always use just a little oil to cook with anyway, there was no sticking yet around them. I would say that since the rivets are steel, you might expect food to try and stick there, so use a little oil and treat it like steel, and it should not be a problem.

I cooked pancakes, eggs, hamburger, soup, chicken, rice, vegetables, pasta and pasta sauce right away in the various sized pots with no problems yet, and it was easy wipe out clean up. Using wood and plastic utensils there was no scratching at all. So just be careful, these pots are not stainless steel. Let them cool down before you put water in them to clean.

When looking at cookware, be sure to look at the dates of the reviews. This review is written March 16, 2011. As time goes on, companies shift producers usually to China. Look at the Cuisonart brand for example. Their MultiClad set had five star reviews up until they moved to China, and now the product and warranty is trash. Be careful to read all the bad reviews too, and look for if reviewers to have good diction, no ax to grind, and then take heed of what that review says and look at the date trends. As of this date, the Rachael Ray 14 piece Aluminum Anodized set impresses me. After long term use, I may post a progress report. I hope this was helpful.

    Pros:

Amazon is an excellent place to shop.

    Versatile pan and pot sizes.

Stainless steel handles with cool grips.

    Non-stick very nice surfaces.

Clear lids with stainless steel rims

    Lids fit everything.

Great heat distribution with no hot spots.

    The price is acceptable.

    Good looking finish product.

    Cons:

Be careful not to bang pots together or stack without protecting them.

Not stainless steel quality, but a good alternative.

Not a lot of selection in other type pots to add to the set.

    Update July 2012

This set has performed with great success. The quality has held up, and other than normal usage, there has been no quality concerns. I am encouraged now about the dishwasher safe sets, and will have to read the reviews. As with all cookware, if you use it, you will eventually lose it (unless it is All Clad of course), and I would definately buy it again if the quality stays the same. I still say I made a great purchase even if the dishwasher safe stuff is out now.

I bought these as a starter set for my then girlfriend in Christmas of 2011 and they have lasted and been excellent ever since. I held out on writing my review because I didn't want to jump the gun but if you're looking for a very decent cookware set to get started on, this is it.

Don't be afraid of the Rachel Ray name brand, as most "celebrity" stamped products are cheap crap, this is not. It is a VERY decent STARTER set and the hard anodized finish is easy to wash. Eggs come right out of the skillet, to this DAY. The only place there is a bit of stick is around the metal contact points for the handles, but even then, just a little arm power and it's off.

It heats fast, cooks even, and as long as you don't use things to scratch the surface, it will remain in good shape. I will say though, we have babied these things and not double stacked, and after hand washing them, hand dried them to keep them in good shape. As we purchase a house after being married, we will most likely be looking for a more advanced set of cookware but honestly I will still keep some pieces of this. Especially the pots.

Edit* January 10, 2015 and these pots and pans are still in good condition but there is minor wear on a couple of the skillets. Honestly it's been 3 years and we didn't expect them to still be here, but the entire set is still usable and the non-stock anodized surface continues to hold true. Amazing.

We bought these pans for Christmas and threw away our old ones. These are great and we love the easy clean up and how well things cook in them. I don't like that the smaller frying pan seems to stick a little but that is a small thing. The spatulas aren't non stick so if I am making eggs I spray the spatula and then wipe off the excess and then flip my eggs other wise the eggs stick it and ripe apart. all and all we love them and would really recommend them to anyone.

Best pots out there.....after a year of searching!
Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2014

Last year our pots/pans all decided to start dying slowly one by one. Handles popping off, tops breaking, sticking, ect. We have been looking, researching, asking friends- both foodies and non... and of course looking at consumer reports. We decided on these with confidence and have not at all been disappointed.

There seems to be a confusion in some of the comments so let me clarify something we had to learn. There is a difference between non-stick and hard anodized nonstick..basic nonstick will have a clear coat on them--this coating seems to be a topic of debate on it's risk to health, it also does not last through frequent washing cycles, is broken down by acidic food (we can attest to that!), and will wear unevenly making look of pans different than when new. Once we figured this out and that we in fact had basic non-stick pots/pans we decided on hard anodized. We cook every night using two-four pots/pans at a time..between these and our cast iron we wanted something that was going to last a long time!! We started researching hard anodized sets and kept coming back to Rachel Rays on all accounts- I kept looking away because of the orange. There are two different versions of these Rachel Ray pots- dishwasher safe and these that do not specifically say that in the description..best to assume (before reading the care instructions that say not to) they are not dishwasher safe and don't buy them with the idea that it will be okay. Sure it will be "okay" for awhile, but don't get upset with the quality or look of the product changes.

A note about the orange- which on all professional product review sites such as BBB seems to be the only downfall- the handles DO NOT heat up! This is a huge deal for us coming from the plastic handles and now having a 2 1/2 yr old who likes to help cook. I felt these handles in person before ordering and several others, they are thicker and more sturdy. I imagine they will last.

Over all I am VERY happy with this purchase. If you can get past the orange you will love them, and once you start cooking and more importantly cleaning these- you won't even see it anymore ;)

    Very Pleased
Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2010

I bought these five months ago. I spent hours and hours online shopping for a new set of pots and pans, reading hundreds of reviews, researching the benefits of hard adonizing over stainless steel and other aluminum products, and this was the set I finally chose. I couldn't be happier! I looked at everything out there; from the cheapest to the most expensive professional cookware there is. I compared Pampered Chef, Paula Deen, Emeril, Cuisinart, Kitchenaid, Le Creuset.....and more. I checked them all out!

My Criteria. Versatility - I'm single so for the most part I use the smaller pans in the set. Because of that it was important to me to find a set that had lids that fit the smaller skillets. Most sets out there have lids for the pots, but nothing for the skillets. But I also wanted larger pans for when I do entertain.

Durability - I've spent way too much money in the past on pans that bend if you drop them, can't stand up to high heat, or end up with non-stick that starts peeling off after a few uses. I was looking for durability.

Non-Stick - I'm a cook, not a chef, and have never really like stainless steel, so it was weeded out of the selection choices early on. I do like cast iron and at first was dreamy eyed about very expensive enamel coated cast iron (Le Creuset), until several of the reviews reported their enamel was chipping into the food and they have had no luck collecting on the lifetime guarantee, and this stuff is expensive!

Price - obviously I wanted the best bang for my buck. I'd have purchased a more expensive set if I thought the quality pay off was worth it.

So that was my criteria.....and this set fullfills it perfectly.

Durability - Hard adonized - It is twice as strong as stainless steel, and a fraction of the weight. I haven't dropped any on the floor yet, or taken a hammer to them, but they feel solid and have held up fantastic so far. The other choices didn't seem so great. Any of the enamel sets (including Rachel Ray) reported chipping and peeling enamel, some just from being put in the dishwasher a couple of times. The cheaper non-stick coatings were peeling off, and I've already mentioned the issue with the enamel cast iron. The real test of the hard adonized will reveal itself with time. I've used them in high eat, stuck them in the oven, cooked rice, eggs, mac & cheese, and it all slides right off the non-stick coating and haven't had even a scorch no matter how high the heat. I'm OCD about using the appropriate utensils for non-stick pans in order to avoid scratches or abrasions, but this non-stick coating is not the cheap crap that will eventually peel off. If you take care of it, it's going to last a while.

Versatility - The lids from the pots fit the skillets! It is So awesome to have a lid for every pan! No more using a tiny lid in a big pan to cook my basted eggs; no more having the edges of a bigger lid dripping condensation onto a burner.....a lid for every pan!! The one question I was asking myself as I unpacked it was "where the heck am I going to put these?" Well, all the pots nest nicely within each other, with a paper towel between them to protect the finish, and the same goes for the skillets. The lids actually take up more space, but also store easily in a couple of stacks next to the pans.

So, there you have it. I'm really well-pleased with this cookware. I almost didn't buy it at first because I didn't want to get sucked into buying a set with a TV Chef's name attached. But I really did the research and was convinced this was perfect for me, and so far, I have been spot on!

Update: A few more months have gone by and I thought I should add a couple things. The set is still as great as my original review and I still love them.

A warning about putting them in the dishwasher. I don't know if it is recommended or not, but I thought I'd rather use the dishwasher even if it shortened the lifespan of the pans a bit. However, the soap residue did discolor the outside of the pan. I was able to scrub it off with an SOS pad, but then decided I love their color too much to run them through the dishwasher. They clean up so easily that it's not a big deal.

Also, someone commented about a cheap set that got burn marks on the bottom. These will get burn marks also. It's pretty much my fault as I've poured grease out of the pan and then put it back on the burner, and the grease that dripped down the side burned. It came off with some scrubbing, but there is still a mark there.

Regardless of these two issues, this set still is perfect for what I wanted and is performing in every way expected. Enjoy!

Stay Away from these pans!! They do not honor the warranty!

I purchased these pans 9/11/10. Initially they seemed like a good product. But I soon realized that the quality is really lacking. With only little use the coating started to peal off on 10" skillet. This pan was never put in the dishwasher and or abused. I returned this skillet to the Meyer Corporation in California for warranty replacement. Fast forward 8 weeks and still no replacement. I called them and was given the run around and was told it could take 6 more weeks. That is totally UNEXCEPTABLE!

The Meyer Corporation manufactures a number brands: Anolon, Circulon, Farberware, Kitchen Aid Cookware, Silverstone and Bonjour. This company does not care about thier customers. I will stay away from anything they represent.

UPDATE: It is 3/11/2011, three months after I sent the 10" skillet back for warranty issue. And still they have not sent a replacement. When I call, all I get is the run around. DO NOT BUY THESE PANS - THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY!!!

I got these on a lightening deal and it just made this buy even better than it already was!

My wife was looking for a new cooking set for a while and I suggested taking a look at this. She liked it so we pulled the trigger.

She prefers Adonized due to its benefits and this was a great deal for a full set and it not being as heavy as the other options.

She wanted a full set and this had everything she wanted. Lids for every piece as some lids fit multiple pans.

They look durable though we have only been using them for a month or so.

Non-Stick - Best feature. We have made eggs, chicken, etc and no oil needed!

Clean Up - Clean up is a breeze and fast. What more can you ask for?

Look - These look great. We found a matching Utensil holder at Pier 1 and the color gets us a lot of comments!

    Buy with no hesitation!
