In Words in Progress, the game begins with seven letters stacked vertically on the screen. Your goal is to combine these letters into words. Whenever you move a letter to another row to build a word, its empty spot is instantly replaced with a new letter from your pile. After submitting a word, new letters are added again, keeping the puzzle constantly evolving. How many words can you make?
Enjoy a variety of game modes for both solo players and online multiplayer fans. Play casually for fun and learning, or compete against others and climb the ranks!
In our new Story Mode, you follow our hero as they try to deal with a mysterious fridge that keeps haunting their dreams night after night. You can progress through more than 45 handcrafted levels, each featuring up to 3 stars to earn for players looking to fully master every challenge.
In Single Player Endless Mode, the goal is to stay in the game as long as you can. Keep your letter pile from running out by completing challenges of varying word lengths. But beware: if you can’t keep up, it’s game over!
Our Daily Challenge lets you compete against players around the world in the exact same game. How many points can you score? Climb the Daily Leaderboards and prove your skills. Remember: if today isn’t your day, there’s always another challenge waiting tomorrow!
In Multiplayer Mode, you and your opponent each start with 40 letters. Do you take the risk of adding letters to words still in progress, aiming for a long word but risking an incomplete or invalid one? Or do you play it safe by “cashing in” shorter, valid words? A smart strategy is key if you want to outscore your opponent and claim victory!
SVP pouvez-vous ajouter un bouton « annuler » (undo) ? J’ai un problème de dextérité et il m’arrive souvent d’ « échapper » une lettre au mauvais endroit. Merci.

Bonjour! Thank you for your edited review. The ‘undo’ feature is a hot topic amongst players and we’ve been discussing ways around it since the launch of the game. The fact is that we are very hesitant to implement an undo feature as we are afraid it will become an integral part of the gameplay: The core mechanic of merging tiles to spawn the next one means that undoing a move will provide the player with ‘future’ information about the game: players will simply merge a tile, see which letter comes next, and then undo their merge. We worry that, if we implement such a tool, it will become a valid (exploitable) strategy very fast: instead of offering a fix for accidental merges, we have now implemented a future telling device!Instead we’ve opted for a ’Merge Confirm’ setting that allows players to confirm each individual merge before it is final. This way you have more control over which tiles will actually get merged: accidental merges can be reverted without ‘spoiling’ the rest of the game and intentional merges can still be assessed to see if it actually is the best way forward. We hope the Merge Confirm settings can provide you some help in those cases. You can find this feature under Settings > First Tab and scroll all the way down. Thank you once again for your review and for playing the game!
Great word game

I was completely addicted to WiP for a long time and only recently lost interest. It provided many hours of entertainment and brain stimulation. 😊

Just try to spell that word every game and it defeats most players. 200+ points if you do it right. Even more for “westernizations”.Regarding undo: rather than confirming each merge, what if you had an option to undo but where you had to request the next tile? If there’s already an unrequested tile, merging again gives you the previously unrequested tile. This would allow a single undo without revealing the next letter and might be less jarring than confirming each merge.

Hi, thank you for your review. Would you be able to send us an email at info@wordsinprogressthegame.com regarding the westernisations / westernisations. We are happy to look into it more in depth together! The 'request a tile' feature is something we are currently researching for a possible new game mode. We will take your feedback into account and see if it is something we can possibly add to the base game as well. Thank you once again!
Ok, needs work

The game is fun at first but then the cracks start to show a bit. The user interface is not great and the number of times that I’ve misclicked and messed my whole game up is high. Maybe a one letter undo feature at least would be beneficial. I also find that the letter selection is too much of the same all the time and not enough variety leading to boring games. It has potential but just needs some polishing.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. Slippery fingers can be tricky in our game unfortunately. That is why we have added a way to prevent accidental merges! You can toggle the 'Merge Confirm' option in the Settings menu (Settings > Merge Confirm). This option allows players to manually confirm their merges (or possibly cancel them if they made a mistake).Enabling this feature requires you to either confirm your current merge (by tapping on the to-be-merged tile) or to cancel the merge (by tapping anywhere else on the screen). Hopefully this feature can assist you a bit with the accidental / fast played tiles. The letter selection is based on a weighted system where each letter is added to a (random) seed based on it's weight within a specific language ('s wordlist). In short: the more a letter occurs within a wordlist, the more it will occur within a seed and the less points you will get for it.Maybe a variance of this approach can be fun in a possible new game-mode somewhere in the future, but we unfortunately have no current plans to change our approach for the base game.Hope this sheds some light on your feedback! Thank you once again/
