21st Century Consort
Description: Archived website of the 21st Century Consort, founded in 1975 by Christopher Kendall and made up of professional musicians from the Washington area, including members of the National Symphony Orchestra. Since 1978 the ensemble has been the resident contemporary music group at the Smithsonian Institution's Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, where they present an annual concert series, often coordinating programming to compliment the museum's exhibitions. The 21st Century Consort website includes information about its history, performances, members, season, recordings, press reviews, and tickets.

African Continuum Theatre Company
Description: Archived website of the African Continuum Theatre Company (ACTCo), founded in 1989 as the African Continuum Theatre Coalition with the mission to assist African American community theaters in Washington, D.C., to improve the quality and visibility of their work. The organization transitioned to a full theater company in 1995 and began producing professional-caliber plays with an African American perspective. ACTCo has produced dozens of fully staged productions as well as hosted numerous public staged readings of new works by playwrights of color. The ACTCo website includes information about its performances, educational programs, press coverage, membership, and history.

The American Handel Society
Description: Archived website of The American Handel Society (AHS), founded in 1986 by Howard Serwer, Paul Traver, and J. Merrill Knapp. Its mission is to foster the study of the life, works, and times of George Frideric Handel, and to encourage and support the performance of his music. To this end, the Society sponsors a biennial conference featuring papers and panel discussions by international scholars and performers, presents the Howard Serwer Lecture, nominates two members to the Editorial Board of the Hallische Händel-Ausgabe, and offers the J. Merrill Knapp Research Fellowship for advanced graduate students and scholars in the early stages of their careers to support work in Handel studies or related fields. The Society publishes a newsletter three times a year. Major projects of the Society include compiling databases of all recorded Handel music and of all published bibliographic materials pertaining to Handel. The AHS website includes information about its membership, leadership, awards program, festivals, conferences, and newsletter.

American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA)
Description: Archived website of the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA). The ACDFA, known as the American College Dance Association (ACDA) since 2015, was founded in 1973 to acknowledge and foster the role that colleges had been playing in the development of dance since the 1960s. Originally formed by thirteen charter member colleges and universities, the ACDFA now consists of over 300 member institutions. The ACDFA sponsors eleven regional conferences where colleges and university submit pieces to be adjudicated by nationally recognized dance professionals. The association also sponsors the National Dance Festival, which showcases works selected from all the regional conferences.
The ACDFA website includes information about its mission, history, regions, bylaws, policies, leadership, regional conferences, national festivals, membership, newsletters, and resources for dance in higher education.

American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR)
Description: Archived website of the American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the study and exchange of theatre and performance from all areas of the world, both historical and contemporary. ASTR was founded in 1956 and is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Each fall, ASTR hosts a conference in conjunction with the Theatre Library Association and has affiliations with many other organizations. Twice a year, ASTR publishes a scholarly journal, Theatre Survey, which is dedicated to historical and theoretical studies of theatre and performance. American Composers Alliance
Description: Archived website of the American Composers Alliance (ACA). The ACA was founded in 1937 by Aaron Copland, Virgil Thompson, Marc Blitztein, Wallingford Riegger, and others with the purpose of promoting American contemporary classical music. The ACA founded the record label Composers Recordings, Inc. (CRI) in 1954 and the American Composers Orchestra in 1977. Both organizations became independent entities shortly after their inception. (In 2006, the CRI catalog became part of New World Records, and the ACA works recorded on the CRI label remain available in a variety of formats.) In 1944, ACA became affiliated with the newly-formed Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), and became an official publisher-affiliate in 1972. The ACA was incorporated in 2005 and became a nonprofit corporation in 2007, with more than 200 members as of 2014.
