Description: The web archive “War in Ukraine: 2022” is an initiative developed by librarians at UC Berkeley Library in partnership with librarians at the University of Michigan and Bavarian State Library. The archive was set up in March 2022, following the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It aims to document relevant resources from Ukraine and Russia as well as responses to the war from other European countries. With an emphasis on the Ukrainian executive and legislative, the collections of the archive cover, but are not limited to: official websites and social media accounts of the national, regional, and local authorities in Ukraine; websites and social media accounts of Ukrainian NGOs, educational and cultural organizations and Ukrainian media. Other collections include: sites from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions; various Russian-language media, including Russian state media, Russian oppositional media, and foreign broadcasters publishing in Russian; websites and social media accounts published by scholars, politicians, journalists and NGOs in other European countries.

Description: The sub-collection “European Responses” is curated by librarians at the Bavarian State Library in Munich, Germany. Created in April 2022, right after the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the collection documents the responses to the war in European countries, focusing on Central and Southeastern Europe. With an emphasis on social media channels of scholars, public figures and volunteers, the sub-collection covers, but is not limited to: relevant social media pages of European institutions and individuals in politics, science and culture; websites published by scholarly, political, and cultural institutions in Europe; websites published by European aid and relief organizations; websites published by governmental agencies of European countries addressing the war; dossiers and thematic collections both by traditional and online media; blog posts and podcast episodes focusing on Ukraine.
