About us

Direct Selling Australia is the industry association for direct selling in Australian retail and has been for almost 50 years. We represent and support organisations that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Around 60 organisations are members – including many well-known brands. What is direct selling? The sale of a product or service away from a fixed store, typically person-to-person or in a small group setting. The most common products sold are cosmetics, skincare, nutritionals and homewares. Direct sellers generally aren’t employees, they are independent contractors who sell the products or services of a company in return for a commission.

We truly are better together. Today I got to do one of the things I love most about my role, spend time connecting with our incredible partners. Jessica Wright and I are both mums with kids on school holidays, so today’s meeting looked a little different. Instead of sitting in an office or jumping on another Zoom, we headed to a local pub with a kids’ playground and brought the kids along. They got to spend time together and enjoy their school holidays, while we ate lunch, talked business, shared ideas, planned for what’s ahead and, of course, talked about our families too. For me, this is one of the beautiful things about our industry. Business and family don’t always have to compete for our time. There are days when we can bring the two together and make it work. And when a business meeting can include great conversation, kids having fun and a sneaky sticky date pudding, I’d say that’s a pretty good workday. Thanks for a great afternoon, Jess. Better together.

So my life feels, and has so for many years now, like I am a constant competition winner. I am sure Australia Post think this about me too since they are constantly making me sign for Thermomix in Australia boxes 😂 Thermomix sets monthly sales or recruiting incentive rewards on top of our standard generous commission and bonuses. Dangle a carrot 🥕 and I am all in! Today my new Ovana 360 🍕 Pizza Oven was delivered (a recruiting incentive). It's going to be a new Mix Shop Product soon priced at just under $700. I will get it set up this weekend and share some videos with followers on my social platforms and be amongst the first consultants to earn complimentary commission on Pizza Oven sales. It's a very clever strategy as the people that earn the incentives are the first to be influencers for the product and the first to then be remunerated for their effort. Direct Sales is a great model to work under - I also get to set my own hours and I love that flexibility as my life has changed and I am now needed to support a family member 💚 If you like being rewarded for your work then please talk with me about the Thermomix opportunity - it's truly incredible! I’ve just returned from an unforgettable week in China with 28 of Young Living’s incredible AUNZ leaders on our YL Dare Incentive Trip, and what an extraordinary experience it was. There were so many personal highlights along the way: visiting our NingXia Wolfberry Farm and seeing firsthand where the world-renowned goji berries that form the foundation of our incredible NingXia Red supplement are grown, emceeing our Leadership Awards & Celebration Lunch and of course walking the iconic Great Wall of China. Yet while these experiences were truly memorable, what impacted me most was something far more powerful - the connections. The opportunity to spend meaningful time with our AUNZ leaders and build relationships across our broader SAPAC community was both inspiring and humbling. Every person on this trip earned their place through extraordinary commitment, resilience and achievement in their business. What surprised me however, was how many of these high-performing leaders still questioned themselves, underestimated their capabilities or wondered if they were truly enough. Let me be clear - they absolutely are. They are leaders, change makers and visionaries. They are creating meaningful impact in the lives of individuals, strengthening communities and building businesses that are transforming futures. Most importantly, they represent the future of our organisation. One of my greatest passions is helping people see the potential that others already see in them. Watching these leaders grow in confidence, celebrate their achievements and recognise the significance of the impact they are making reminds me exactly why I love working for Young Living. It is a company built on purpose, fuelled by people and grounded in values that genuinely inspire and empower others to achieve more than they ever thought possible. This week was a powerful reminder that success is never just about the destination or the rewards along the way. It is about the relationships we build, the lives we touch and the belief we inspire in others. Without question, one of the most rewarding and memorable weeks of my life, and one I am incredibly grateful to have experienced.

Our conversation with Dan Debnam, founder of Inovara, completely reframes how we should be thinking about AI in business. Dan's "accidental" journey into becoming an AI expert started in direct selling, and his central message is refreshingly simple: the technology was never the hard part - it's changing how people work that's hard. He shared a brilliant story about two CFOs who, after just weeks of learning to use Claude and ChatGPT, independently solved a genuine business problem. If you lead a team or a business, this episode will challenge you. Dan explains why most companies are only using 5% of the AI tools they're already paying for, why "AI happening to people" fails while "AI happening for people" succeeds, and why leadership - not IT - has to go first. Whether you're AI-curious or already deep in it, there's a genuine "aha moment" waiting in this one. 🎧 Selling In Europe podcast - Episode 14 Unleashing the Potential of AI in Direct Selling with Dan Debnam Listen on Apple or Spotify #directsellingexperts #directsellingconsultancy #directsellingpartnership

I want to hear your views on AI. Over the weekend the leaders of global AI companies said development needs to slow down. It’s a sign we need a much bigger conversation about where this is all heading. This is becoming a significant and tricky policy area and it’s important that the conversation includes the full breadth of our community’s views. Whether you run a small business that's started using AI, you're worried about what it means for your job, worried for your kids, or you're optimistic about what AI can do - I want to hear from you. Please take a couple minutes to fill out my short survey: https://lnkd.in/gqmxTzbK
