Building the world’s first rights-backed AR media network | Monetizing real-world spaces through spatial advertising

About us

Darabase is building the world’s first rights-backed Augmented Reality (AR) media network — enabling advertisers, property owners, and cities to monetize digital experiences anchored in the real world. Our platform combines Property Digital Rights (PDR) infrastructure with a Spatial Ad SDK, allowing brands to deliver immersive, permission-based AR campaigns through mobile and smart-glasses platforms such as Meta Ray-Ban and Snap Spectacles — while ensuring property owners and publishers are automatically compensated when content appears on their real-world locations. Founded in 2019, Darabase partners with leading property groups, outdoor media companies, and smart-city operators to create scalable, rights-compliant AR media inventory. The company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with operations in the UK, USA, Australia, and the Middle East. Darabase has been recognized globally through participation in several leading accelerator and innovation programs, including Taronga Ventures’ RealTechX (APAC), Aldar’s ScaleUp (UAE), Moderne Ventures’ Passport Program (US), and Outlier Ventures’ Open Metaverse Basecamp (UK & US). The company is backed by a distinguished group of strategic investors, including Taronga Ventures, GroundBreak Ventures, Outlier Ventures, Talon Outdoor, and Root & Shoot Ventures, alongside several family offices and high-net-worth investors. As adoption of AR and smart-glasses accelerates, Darabase is building the trusted media infrastructure that bridges the physical and digital worlds — powering a new era of spatial advertising and rights-based media across global cities and real-world locations.

  • We’re excited to share that Darabase has been selected as one of 20 companies competing in the ALL IN 2026 Pitch Competition next week in Montreal. Our co-founder Peter Pinfold will be representing Darabase on stage on September 16, sharing what we’ve built to connect the outdoor advertising ecosystem with the emerging world of AI-enabled smart glasses. Looking forward to an exciting couple of days at ALL IN and connecting with investors, industry leaders and others working across AI, media and spatial computing. See you in Montreal. #ALLIN #ALLIN2026 #AI #SpatialComputing #AdTech

  • As spatial media scales, legal clarity becomes foundational to monetization. In this discussion, Dominic Collins and AR attorney Brian Wassom explore how existing property, trademark, and commercial law frameworks apply to augmented reality. Infrastructure scales when legal and commercial incentives align. Full discussion below.

Over a year ago — before the current acceleration in smartglasses — our co-founder Dominic Collins sat down with AR attorney Brian Wassom to discuss a question that’s only becoming more relevant: How enforceable is AR on real-world property? One line from that conversation remains particularly relevant: “By and large, it won’t necessarily be the law changing. It will be changing our understandings and applications of well established legal principles to this new medium.” AR isn’t a legal vacuum. - Property law already exists. - Trespass and nuisance doctrine already exist. - Trademark and commercial speech law already exist. In commercial contexts, frameworks like the Lanham Act govern false endorsement and consumer confusion. This matters because scalable AR advertising only works when legal incentives are aligned. The more useful framing isn’t: Does every AR placement legally require permission? It’s... As spatial media scales, why would serious platforms and global brands ignore structured rights frameworks? They won’t — because scale increases litigation risk, regulatory exposure, and brand liability. New media doesn’t emerge outside legal frameworks — it matures within them. The legal foundation for spatial media is already there. Full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gVnwq8YF

  • Thoughtful perspective from Outward Media, Inc. (OMI) on the future of AR as a media channel. Following a recent conversation on Dylan Conroy’s Ad Podcast, OMI’s Paula Chiocchi explores why augmented reality is moving from novelty toward infrastructure — and why permission, clean data, and rights frameworks will be essential as the channel matures. At Darabase, this is exactly what we’re focused on: building the infrastructure layer that allows AR advertising to scale responsibly, with clear property rights and fair value exchange for all participants. A worthwhile read for anyone thinking about the future of media, AdTech, and spatial computing. - https://lnkd.in/gCJPv8_N

  • Excited to share that Darabase has been selected to pitch at Western Angels’ Demo Day on January 20th in Toronto. Western Angels brings together leading alumni-backed companies and investors, and we’re proud to be part of this group of high-potential ventures. At Darabase, we’re building the infrastructure layer for rights-managed AR advertising — enabling brands to run scalable, location-based AR campaigns while fairly compensating property owners and publishers. As smartglasses and spatial computing move closer to the mainstream, this infrastructure becomes essential. If you’re an investor interested in AdTech, infrastructure, or next-generation media, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect at Demo Day. - Register here: https://lnkd.in/gvU2j6ZJ Thank you to Morrissette Entrepreneurship and Western Angels for supporting founders and bringing this community together.

  • At Darabase, we’re committed to building AR media that respects property owners, protects brands, and creates real-world value. Thanks to The Ad Podcast for the platform and thoughtful discussion. 👇 Full clip below

Really enjoyed joining The Ad Podcast to talk about the future of AR, smart-glasses media, and why Property Digital Rights (PDRs) may become one of the most important — and most overlooked — foundations of the spatial computing economy. In this clip, I share how Darabase is building the world’s first rights-backed AR media ad network, enabling brands to activate AR campaigns safely, legally, and contextually on real-world locations — with property-owner consent built in from day one. Big thanks to Dylan Conroy and Paula Chiocchi from Outward Media, Inc. (OMI) for the thoughtful questions and great discussion. • Great to see Peter Pinfold back at the Schulich School of Business - York University, sharing how Darabase is helping shape the future of immersive AR advertising. #Darabase #AdTech #AugmentedReality #Schulich

A real pleasure to return to my alma mater, the Schulich School of Business - York University, where they’ve launched the first-of-its-kind Future of Marketing Institute, a global think tank exploring how technology is reshaping the marketing landscape. Huge thanks to Professor M. David Rice Ph.D. for the warm welcome and for inviting Darabase to share how immersive AR advertising is shaping — and soon transforming — the future of marketing and media. Exciting to see Schulich leading at the intersection of spatial computing, AdTech, and property digital rights. Curious how AR will reshape media and brand experiences? Let’s connect. #Schulich #FutureOfMarketing #AugmentedReality #AdTech #SpatialComputing #Darabase

  • At Darabase, we’re building the rights-backed infrastructure that makes these spatial experiences possible.

Smartglasses momentum is accelerating — and the market is starting to see what’s coming. In recent weeks we’ve seen major moves: • Ray-Ban | Meta AI glasses helped EssilorLuxottica reach a record-high share price, adding nearly $20 billion in market value. • Amazon introduced AI-powered smart glasses for delivery drivers, bringing AR into daily operations. • Alibaba launched its Quark AI Glasses in China, powered by its own LLM assistant. From logistics to fashion, the world’s biggest tech companies are racing to bring context-aware computing into everyday life. The implications go far beyond hardware — they redefine how digital content and media interact with the physical world. At Darabase, we’ve been focused on that intersection from day one — helping build the infrastructure that ensures this next wave of spatial experiences is rights-backed, scalable, and ready for the mainstream. #AR #SmartGlasses #AdTech #SpatialComputing #Darabase #AugmentedReality #AI #XR
