It’s official - we are now a Kanopy Technology company! 🥳 Kanopy brings together Recycle Coach and Re-TRAC under the same roof, alongside a strategic partnership with Prairie Robotics. Nothing changes about Recycle Coach. Same app, same name, same team, with more room to build what's next. We'll be at RCon in St. Louis next week at booth #219, where we'll be showing off a preview of our new app Curb Coach to attendees - come learn more! https://lnkd.in/e2E28dxK

25 years ago, our company began with a simple problem: residents needed better recycling information. So we started printing calendars for municipalities across Canada. In 2012, we helped put answers directly into their pockets with the launch of our app — the one that would later become Recycle Coach. Today, digital solutions have helped move the industry forward, but getting the work done for solid waste teams continues to be anything but simple, with market swings, changing resident behaviors, and the impact of EPR. We've spent the last little while thinking hard about what comes next, and we cannot wait to tell you more. Stay tuned.

How do you reach residents who don't go looking for the right waste and recycling info? You go to them. The team at the City of Kalamazoo complements their app strategy by showing up in-person and meeting residents where they're at, because one channel alone doesn't do it all, and there's no such thing as enough outreach. https://lnkd.in/e3KMjCXd

"Let's make it easy for people to win and be successful at the curb." — Chris Broadbent, Solid Waste Coordinator for the City of Kalamazoo Words we love to hear. 👏👏👏 https://lnkd.in/e3KMjCXd

Nobody recycles wrong on purpose. But when residents don't know what goes where, the bin becomes a guessing game, and the landfill can be the path of least resistance. Chris Broadbent and the City of Kalamazoo set out to close the information gap and make it as easy as possible for residents to find the info they need. https://lnkd.in/e3KMjCXd

Waste and recycling programs run on trust. Residents need to know the app can be relied on. Municipalities need to know someone's in the wings to help when things go wrong. That's what we're here for. What does this mean in practice? ✅ A cancelled collection happens unexpectedly. We work with you to get emergency notifications out the door, ASAP. ✅ An integration for a bulky pick-up tool is about to go live. And before it does, every stakeholder already has account access, report visibility, and confirmation emails in place. ✅ A resident reports unclear information. Our support team is on it to assist.

Summer celebrations bring fireworks, sparklers, and one big question: what goes where? This is exactly when our notification tools shine. Municipalities can send timely reminders before holiday weekends (like proper disposal for fireworks or collection schedule changes) so residents get the right info when they need it.

There are plenty of metrics municipalities can use to measure success with digital tools. Downloads. Engagements. Notifications. But one of the strongest signals is much harder to quantify: residents talking about how much they love your app. According to Waste Reduction Supervisor Tori Carle Emerson, whenever residents bring up GSO Collects in conversations, the response is usually something like… “If they already have the app, residents ALWAYS say how much they love it. If they don’t, they immediately say, ‘I need that!’” Give residents a tool that makes life easier, and they’ll become your strongest advocates. Recycle Coach reposted this
Spending this week in Denver for Recycle Colorado Summit exhibiting for Recycle Coach. My second time in Colorado and I’m genuinely impressed by the level of commitment driving their environmental and sustainability work. The passion is real. Nature this stunning doesn’t happen by accident. Even in the heart of the city, nature has a way of showing up and reminding you to slow down.
