A smooth handover process can feel bittersweet for the outgoing leader, according to Omegro Portfolio Manager Andrew Nelson. When he moved on from managing Gaina Software after finding a successor in Kealan Curran, Nelson joked that the only thing anyone noticed was that the business was improving. "It would have been nice to be missed, but I think the customers were happy the business was getting better," he said of the experience. How do you develop a successor in a software company too small to have a proper HR function? If you're a founder or owner, that job often lands on you. It’s also a question Andrew Nelson, Portfolio Manager at Omegro, helps software leaders answer. Andy has been the first-time MD who needed backing and the coach providing it. On October 28, he’ll join other Volaris Group leaders to talk about what that support looks like in practice. "You cannot be promoted until you can be replaced." That's how Kevin Bradley, CEO of Vencora, thinks about leadership. If you founded or own a software company, it raises a fair question: Is there someone within your company who could step into your role? On October 28, Kevin will join other Volaris Group leaders for a candid discussion about why succession is a talent strategy first and the job of the whole team, not just HR. The session is built for software founders and owners thinking about who leads their business next. 63% of business owners without a succession plan say it feels too early to start. Another 45% say they're too busy, according to an ideas42 survey. Both are understandable. But succession planning takes time, and waiting until a transition becomes necessary can limit your options. For founders and owners of software businesses, succession planning isn't just about preparing for an eventual exit. It's about building leadership depth, reducing dependence on any one individual, and ensuring the business can continue to thrive through change. On October 28, we're hosting a candid conversation with three software leaders who have navigated leadership transitions firsthand. They'll share what succession planning looks like in practice, where to start when you're busy running a business, and how to prepare future leaders while maintaining business continuity. 👉 Reserve your spot: https://lnkd.in/gM-SK3kk #SuccessionPlanning #SoftwareBusiness #ForeverInvested #webinar
