On Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we come together to honour survivors of residential schools and recognize the lasting impact on families and Indigenous communities across Canada. This year, orange shirts available at Walmart Canada in stores and online from Indigenous Proud feature a design by Tracey Anthony, with artwork that holds a deeply personal connection to his family. Here’s what Tracey shared about the meaning behind the piece: “The moccasins represent these ways that were taken from our people. Represent the children that suffered. The Monarch Butterfly represents the rebirth and resurgence of our culture, our language, and our ways. The Sun represents the light that gives life to the rebirth and resurgence of our Nations. The flowers represent the beauty and blooming of our resilience in the face of atrocity. And finally the design is for my Grandmother, my mom's Mother, Bessie LaForme (Nee: Hill) of the MCFN - Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, as she was forced to attend The Mohawk Institute Residential School in Brantford, Ontario. She was resilient. She was loved.” Tracey’s design is at the heart of this year’s Orange Shirt Day collection, available in Walmart stores across Canada and on Walmart.ca. For every orange shirt sold, 100% of profits will be donated to the Orange Shirt Society and Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Since 2012, Walmart Canada has donated more than 100 million pounds of safe surplus food and products, based on Food Banks Canada | Banques alimentaires Canada reporting. Recently, our team toured Walmart stores across Vancouver Island with Food Banks Canada and local community leaders to see the impact of food recovery efforts firsthand. We were honoured to be joined by municipal leaders from Saanich, Duncan, Langford, Nanaimo, and the Government of British Columbia in our stores, as well as Minister Sheila Malcolmson and MLA Sunita Dhir at Loaves & Fishes Food Bank. Reducing food waste and helping address food insecurity takes collaboration, and we're grateful to work alongside so many dedicated partners making a difference in communities across Canada. A huge thank you to our store associates and food bank partners. #FoodRecovery #CommunityImpact #FoodBanksCanada #WalmartCanada Jennifer Barbazza, Bryan M., Julia Gellman, Erin McAllister; Sunita Dhir; Nathalie Chambers; Julia Gellman; Scott Goodmanson; Mary Wagner, PhD; Paul Manly; Janice Perrino; Darcy Olsen

What can you learn about your coworkers from a recipe book? At our Saint John, New Brunswick store, the answer is a lot. 💙 It started with a simple idea from Accounting Office Associate Lynda Johnson: create a cookbook featuring associates’ favourite recipes. Within a month, the team had collected nearly 80, including family favourites, local specialties and recipes passed down through generations. The cookbook was assembled in-store and unveiled at the store’s annual Associate Art Show, where associates also share their talents through drawings, photography, quilts, jewellery, painting and more. It was such a hit that a second edition is already in the works! 🎨📖 These projects offer a glimpse at the artists, creators and storytellers behind the blue vests and celebrate the experiences and talents our associates bring to work every day. With an estimated 2.4 million children in Canada experiencing food insecurity, access to a nutritious breakfast can make an important difference at the start of the school day. That’s why we’re proud to kick off our 24th annual campaign in support of Breakfast Club of Canada with a $1 million donation. From September 17 to October 9, we’re inviting Canadians to join the campaign by donating at checkout in stores or online at Walmart.ca. Every contribution will help support school breakfast programs for children who need them. Since our partnership began, we’ve raised and donated nearly $75 million, helping provide approximately 37 million breakfasts through programs in hundreds of communities across Canada. Thank you to our customers and associates for continuing to support the important work of Breakfast Club of Canada and helping create brighter mornings for kids across the country. 💙 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gPbdDgXE #Walmart #WalmartCanada #BreakfastClubOfCanada #Community Erin Mackey, CSR-P, Jessie McNulty, Steeve Azoulay

As wildfires continue to impact communities across British Columbia, Walmart Canada and the Walmart Foundation are committing $250,000 USD to the Canadian Red Cross 2026 British Columbia Wildfires Appeal. We're proud to support the important work of the Canadian Red Cross and the people on the ground helping impacted communities across B.C. We’re especially inspired by our associates who have stepped up to support evacuees, offering essentials, assistance and a helping hand when it was needed most. Their actions are a powerful reminder that supporting communities is about more than donations. It's about neighbours helping neighbours.
