“Byron was introduced to the Board of Directors of Accommodation, Information and Support (“AIS”) in November 2010 and soon after became a member of the Board. AIS has been a community leader in developing supportive housing for persons with mental health challenges who have experienced homelessness. Byron came to the Board with a passion and interest in social housing and an understanding of the impact housing has on the lives of people who struggle with poverty, mental health issues, and substance abuse problems. As a member of the AIS Board of Directors, Byron successfully acted as a governing trustee on behalf of tenants while carrying out the mission and goals of AIS. Byron demonstrated his commitment to the Board by having the best attendance record; preparing for the meetings by reading and asking pertinent questions about AIS’ governance, strategies and processes; providing legal advice and guidance in areas of leasing and contracts; and ensuring that AIS was managing their fiduciary responsibilities. On many occasions Byron assumed an enhanced leadership role by chairing the Board Meetings. Through guiding the discussions, Byron was instrumental in facilitating the decision-making process. Byron is a warm and friendly person, and would definitely be an asset to any work environment or Board position.”
