Larry Lau reposted thisLarry Lau reposted thisSomewhere “Along The Way,” it stopped feeling like a campaign and started feeling like something bigger. The kind of energy you can’t manufacture, but somehow hits you when it arrives. Marathon 2026 was bigger than a race. From Bryce Aspinall turning the city’s pulse into something we could wear, to the RunAsYouAre x Nike Pop-Up Café becoming the heartbeat of the weekend, to 16 different run clubs showing up with so much energy that each shakeout run felt like it's own city-wide earthquake. And let’s not forget the spiritual energy at kilometre 29, where we had a full-on choir singing “Hallelujah” to beats by Rico Uno that quite literally lifted each of the runners across the bridge towards the finish line. To all of our RunReady athletes—We see you. The early mornings, the invisible work, the trust in the process when nobody’s watching. Witnessing so many of you show up and deliver on your goals last weekend was a reminder that hard work always leaves a receipt. We're so proud of each and every one of you. Special shoutout to our entire team for executing on the big vision, and to the countless friends in the community who stepped up, helped filled the gaps, and carried this thing forward with us. And to our supporting partners TV Dinner, Dicky's Dumps, The Juice Truck, Stance, 33 Acres Brewing Company, Whisked Away, Good Noise Gospel Choir, and many more—Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We may be cooked, but we most definitely cooked on this one. Grateful for the city, the community, and everyone who ran it with us. We’ll be chasing this one for a long time. -Nick

Larry Lau reposted thisLarry Lau reposted thisDown To Earth: A celebration of who trail running can be for. Because for a lot of us, it still feels out of reach. Access to trails, coaching, community, even just knowing where to start. Those barriers are real, and if we genuinely want the sport to grow, it has to become more open, more inclusive, and more human. Through our partnership with Path To Play, we created a space where people could experience trail running differently. Grounded in community, education, and support. Zero intimidation, just an open invitation. And the highlight of it all? Celebrating our two trail scholarship recipients who committed to the journey. Physiotherapy, training, and an introduction to trails alongside Francesca (Frankie) Knowles and Charissa Landicho from Path To Play, and our team at RunReady. Watching that unfold for Liz and Jamil over the last 6 months was everything. The confidence, the ownership, and the quiet breakthroughs where something clicks. Those are the moments you don’t see on race day. Because when you create the right environment, people don’t just participate, they transform. A special shoutout to Nike for the partnership, and our sponsors for the event: Lee's Donuts, Peacasa Snacks Inc., and Normal Beverage, Ltd. Down To Earth, more to come.

Larry Lau shared thisFun discussion today for Vancouver Startup Week with Steve Krueger Bijan Vaez and Ryan Smith about the cross-section between AI and commerce.Larry Lau shared thisChaos. Anxious. Excited. Curious. … were the adjectives used on what these leaders are feeling about AI and how it’s disrupting. everything. today. Kicked off our Run, Breakfast and discussion about Commerce and AI this morning at RunAsYouAre in Kits. We talked about what to look for, how to get started, how to be curious, and most importantly… to be patient with yourself in moving through the stages of using and adopting AI in your workflows, and ultimately, in your organization. The common thread? There aren’t patterns out there to follow… yet. Other than to dive as deep and fast into just “starting”. Thanks Ryan Smith Bijan Vaez and Larry Lau for sharing the insights and thanks for the ECOMsquare – ecommerce community community for brining the sweat, and good vibes, this morning for our run. I think we’ll have to do a follow up with some workshops… Stay tuned. #ecommerce #commerceai #ai

Larry Lau reposted thisLarry Lau reposted thisLast week, we hosted a small group of physiotherapists, chiropractors, researchers and students for another round of Inside RunReady: An opportunity to share how we approach assessing runners. We broke down the fundamental movement patterns of Absorb and Bounce, where in the running cycle each of these takes place, and why it’s so important to assess for speed. These workshops are good reminders of why we’re building RunReady in the first place: To elevate the standard of care in running health, and to create more clarity for practitioners navigating the space from rehab to injury prevention to performance. Appreciate everyone who joined us, opened their minds to our approach, and collectively pushed the conversation forward. Stay tuned for more workshops and learning opportunities soon. And if you're curious about how this system can fit into your clinical practice, or how you can join our team, we'd love to connect. Larry Lau reposted thisLarry Lau reposted thisOur vision for RunReady is to be globally recognized as the most trusted running health brand. And to our community and peers, we dream of the day we become the de facto source for running assessments, footwear recommendations, exercise programming, nutrition, mental health, and performance. It's ambitious, and we're nowhere near that today. But the vision stays true no matter how far we are from the finish line (or start line depending how you look at it). Step by step, inch by inch, brick by brick, we build. Credibility can only be earned over the long run by showing up and delivering day after day, week after week, month after month. So here we go again. On the evening of April 8th, I’ll be hosting a live hands-on workshop for Physiotherapists to take a peek behind the intricate system we've built, and more specifically how we use it to assess and improve SPEED in runners. For more information, take a look here: https://lnkd.in/dcJUzNaD

Larry Lau shared thisOn April 8th in Vancouver, RunReady is hosting Inside RunReady, a live, hands-on workshop led by our physiotherapy team. We’ll break down how Bounce is assessed, what to look for when speed stalls, and how these insights show up in real runners. You’ll see real assessments in action and have the chance to take part yourself. We’ve built what we believe is the most advanced physio-led run assessment, along with Race Prep, a sought-after and high-demand group physio program. Because of that demand, we created Virtual Race Prep to support runners globally, beyond the runners we serve here in Vancouver. Oh, and we're hiring for Full-Time and Part-Time Physiotherapists to join our team in Vancouver, immediately. If you know a runner or physio who would benefit from this, send it their way or tag them below.

Larry Lau reposted thisLarry Lau reposted thisWe just launched our brand new website for RunReady — www.runready.co Only 7 months ago, we opened the doors to RunReady Studio inside our run specialty store RunAsYouAre, with a mission to redefine how runners find the right footwear — not by guesswork, but through science-backed running assessments built and designed by physiotherapists. So far, we have: ✅ Conducted just over 600 in-depth running assessments ✅ Helped runners of all levels better understand their movement, performance, and injury risks through the ABS (Absorb, Bounce, Stability) System ✅ Converted over 35% of those assessments into personalized footwear recommendations and purchases As we move into Q4, I wanted to take a moment to breathe and give some much deserved flowers to the team behind the madness — my business partners, the clinical team, the tech team, the footwear team, the brand and marketing team, our footwear partners, and most importantly our community. This is just the beginning — Our new site is designed to better reflect what we’re building: a smarter, more informed way to help runners move better, feel better, and stay injury-free, no matter their level. The entire sports industry is predicated on the .001% of athletes who play pro. Yet, hiding in plain sight, and the ones supporting the industry, are the other 99.9% of athletes who just love the game. Brodie is my life's work and I'm so proud to be working alongside Ameet Shah at Golden Ventures and Ben Lerer at Lerer Hippeau to build a truly world-changing brand in Brodie Sports Group Thanks to The Globe and Mail, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Complex NTWRK, BetaKit, MobileSyrup, and more amazing partners for the coverage. Larry Lau reacted on thisLarry Lau reacted on thisGolden Ventures is proud to announce our seed investment in Brodie Sports Group, as part of their $3.6M USD round alongside our friends at Lerer Hippeau. There’s a moment many former athletes recognize: the last organized game arrives, often without anyone realizing it. The competition, routine, teammates, and sense that Tuesday night actually matters slowly give way to solo workouts, scattered group chats, and empty gyms. Brodie is building what comes next: a real sporting life for adults. Every week, players get the things that made organized sport meaningful in the first place: teammates, balanced competition, standings, stats, footage, rivalry, progression, and a season that adds up to something. It is infrastructure for adult team sport, starting with basketball: an experience that feels less like signing up for a rec league and more like playing 2K in real life. What stood out to us was not just the demand for adult sport, but the depth of the operating challenge. Great leagues require reliable scheduling, team balancing, officiating, content, player identity, community, and local execution in every city. Connor Renton, Sohaib Sabrani and the entire Brodie Sports Group team have lived those problems firsthand and built a product that makes people want to come back every week. Today, Brodie runs more than 600 games per week across 20 cities and serves a community of more than 100,000 athletes and fans. We believe the next great sports company will be built for the people who play—and that Brodie can give millions of adults a durable place to compete, improve, and belong long after school ends. Congratulations to Connor and the entire Brodie team. And if you’ve been looking for a reason to compete again, Brodie is hiring across its cities and winter registration closes November 27. ✍ Read more about why we invested: https://lnkd.in/g5h-Zg3h 🏀 Sign-up for a Brodie league/team: https://brodierec.com 📜 Fun fact: we got connected to Brodie via Boardy (h/t Swish and Andrew) 💻 Check out their open roles: https://lnkd.in/ggxffgVC Matt, Alison, Jamie, Nick, Vincent, Bert, Mark, Julia, Ben, Graham, Andrea

Larry Lau reacted on thisLarry Lau reacted on thislife is good. a few things I’ve learned after a decade+ ceoing and raising 2 young kids: 1/ having a family changed my relationship with time more than anything else. it’s hard, volatile, and makes life way more complicated. at the same time, it’s incredibly fulfilling, makes life deeply purposeful, and forced me to get way better at saying no and delegating. all of a sudden, my time had a real cost. 2/ I stopped working weekends. other than an hour on Sunday to prep for the week so Monday morning is a clean and clear entry with priorities mapped out. I’ve found that if I’m consistently putting in 60+ hours/week and we’re not in an acute crisis, there’s usually a prioritization or delegation problem somewhere. fewer hours, especially behind a screen, makes me a far clearer thinker and more effective leader. still weeks where everything is insane and 60+ happens - just shouldn’t be the norm if we’re aiming to run a calm and focused company. 3/ one of the bigger things I’ve had to learn is that we’re not at war. in my experience, a lot of founders are often driven by immense survival wiring, and it takes time to build self-awareness and rewire this. manufactured urgency all the time just makes everyone worse and injects a ton of anxiety and instability into the org. I’m much better now when I just set clear priorities for the team, help them execute, and navigate obstacles while bringing calm and clarity. 4/ raising real capital taught me pretty quickly that you’re effectively signing up to have bosses again. in practice, the Board becomes your boss. sometimes it really sucks and can grate on your autonomy, but that’s the trade-off. I’ve also learned founders are not always right, especially as companies get bigger and more complex. the instincts that get you here aren't nec what gets the company through the next stage. having guardrails and counterweights to entrepreneurial optimism has been good for me and good for the company, even when it’s occasionally frustrating. 5/ probably the biggest one: most of the stuff I see online about startups and founders feels massively disconnected from reality. yes, some companies and founders are absolutely killing it. but a lot are just hanging on for dear life, and the truth behind the press and posts is usually way more gnarly. I’ve lost count of the glowing press I’ve seen where I know the actual story behind the scenes and the gap is massive. I’ve gotten way better at ignoring almost everyone and everything and just building the damn business. and building a fulfilling life and identity beyond work at the same time.

When it comes to capital strategy in the cannabis industry, strategic investors are not simply seeking “exposure” to the sector. Instead, their focus is on acquiring specific capabilities—such as compliant supply chains, consistent quality standards, route-to-market leverage, and brands with the potential to expand across markets. In cannabis, the true test of strategy occurs after the deal closes. Integration challenges can arise due to state-by-state fragmentation, quality assurance failure modes, channel conflicts, and concerns about whether the operating system can scale without jeopardizing compliance or the brand itself. Three primary capital strategies are emerging within the industry: * Asset-heavy vertical integration * Pure brand licensing * Hybrid infrastructure platforms Each of these strategies has inherent strengths. Asset-Heavy Vertical Integration Asset-heavy vertical integration is a strategic approach centered on control and synergies across inputs, manufacturing, and distribution. However, this model concentrates regulatory and execution risks, and its effectiveness depends on maintaining a fully utilized footprint and a replicable playbook across different markets. Brand Licensing - (Admitted bias - The Clear Brands has embraced this strategy completely) Licensing offers a strategic advantage for brands looking to expand reach without owning every facility. This approach can deliver option value across various geographies, but it requires rigorous specifications, testing procedures, and partner governance to ensure the brand maintains its consistency everywhere. Hybrid Infrastructure Platforms Hybrid platforms are creating a “shared services” layer, including compliance, QA, manufacturing systems, and distribution standards that brands can connect to. This strategy is particularly appealing for bolt-on opportunities, provided the platform is truly interoperable and not just a standalone solution. The central question is not which model is currently popular, but which approach best reduces operational risk while preserving brand integrity. Ultimately, capital gravitates toward predictability, since repeatable returns depend on it. This principle is consistent across all consumer categories. From a strategic perspective, it’s vital to determine where to place the bet: should you own the assets, own the brand, or own the operating system? The right choice is the one that increases integration velocity while maintaining quality and regulatory durability. #theclearbrands #TWAXbyTheClear #TheClearEFX

Please The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario , remember that one of the goals of legalization was to reduce criminal activity. Enforcing legal stores to remove the word dispensary from our online presence does the exact opposite. The number one searched term for cannabis is “dispensary near me” and this enforcement effectively directs all of that traffic to illegal sources. Seems short sighted doesn’t it, considering we don’t have medical cannabis dispensaries in Canada? Doug Ford and Doug Downey, tax dollars lost for semantics not relevant in Canada - does this make sense to you?

💡 A once-stigmatised industry is now one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world. The global cannabis market is on track to grow from $39.1 billion in 2024 to a remarkable $151.7 billion by 2033 — a 16.2% annual growth rate. What’s behind the surge? ✅ Expanding legalisation and regulation across continents. ✅ Rapid growth in medical cannabis for chronic pain, anxiety, and wellness. ✅ Innovation in edibles, beverages, and wellness products appealing to new audiences. This is more than a business trend — it’s a signal of how consumer health, sustainability, and innovation are converging. 🌱 The next decade belongs to the bold — those building responsible, science-backed, and socially conscious cannabis enterprises. After a sluggish M&A in the Cannabis industry, Q1 of 2026 is seeing a uptick. Canadian cannabis company Organigram Global has agreed to buy Germany medical cannabis operator Sanity Group, just as the latter company is on the verge of entering markets in the #unitedkingdom, #poland, and #czechia. The deal can reach up to 250 million euros if certain revenue targets are hit in the first 12 months after the deal closes. Other #canadian companies are on looking to #europe. High Tide Inc. for its part, purchased a 51% stake in German medical cannabis producer Remexian Pharma GmbH in August as well, for €27.2 million. Aurora Cannabis Inc. CEO Miguel Martin told Cultivated last week that Europe is the cannabis industry’s “real growth story.” Thank you Jeremy Berke and Zack Huffman from Cultivated Media for the International update. #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity #cannabisnews #cannabiseducation #cannabispolicy #cannbislaw #cannabisbusiness https://lnkd.in/gPiUMsBN

One river, two cannabis countries. Today I'm speaking at Tether's Retailer Exchange in Ottawa — so we pointed the scout at the host city. Ottawa is the only metro in Canada where two retail models serve one market, and 28 days of observed sell-through show exactly what that does: • 74 private stores on the Ottawa side share a $2.4M week — about $33K per store. Across the bridge, 3 SQDC stores do $205K each. Six times the throughput per door. A monopoly optimizes throughput; competition optimizes access. • The shelf flips at the river: dried flower takes 48% of Gatineau's dollars vs 32% in Ottawa. Hash & kief runs 3× higher on the Québec side (7.5% vs 2.5%) — and 510 cartridges run 3× higher on the Ontario side. • Edibles: 5.8% of Ottawa dollars, 0.3% in Gatineau. That's not demand — Québec's rules keep most edibles off SQDC shelves. Demand doesn't disappear; it crosses a bridge. And it flows both ways: Ottawa's hash share sits 47% above the Ontario norm. Inside Ottawa the gradient keeps going: ByWard shops old school (hash +66% vs the rest of the province), Kanata is the edibles suburb (+59%), and Barrhaven might be Ontario's most under-stored suburb — 4 stores each selling nearly double the provincial per-store average. If your growth plan treats Ottawa as "Ontario, but government town," you're leaving shelf-level demand on the table — on both sides of the river. I'm on the Brand Growth Strategies panel today — come say hi. And if you want your brand's read at this level, DM me — https://lnkd.in/eDTrrx3q #cannabis #cannabisindustry #cannabisretail #Ottawa #Gatineau #cpg #dataanalytics
