  • Tomi Einesalo and Tomi Suonpaa, CFA, Portfolio Managers in our Emerging Markets Fixed Income team, recently visited London to attend a conference about the asset class that brought together issuers, policymakers and investors from around the globe. They share their views on selected countries based on meetings and discussions held during the trip.   ▪️ Angola's oil-driven economy is benefitting from the current geopolitical situation. Credit quality is improving, foreign exchange pressures are abating and there is more space for a policy agenda that could benefit society more widely. ▪️ Egypt has stabilized its economy through disciplined policy coordination after navigating an extreme flight of foreign capital during the crisis of 2022 and 2023, successfully retaining foreign investors and reducing inflation despite ongoing regional tensions. ▪️ Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka all have been struggling with their own specific types of economic and financial challenges in the last few years. They are highly dependent on imported energy and had relatively small buffers as they entered the current environment of high energy prices.   Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ex3TQ5KE

  • In the latest episode of the Origins podcast, co-host Elizabeth 'Beezer' Clarkson, Managing Director at LGT Capital Partners, speaks with Sarah Pinto Peyronel, Portfolio Manager at Robinhood Ventures, about what it means to take venture capital public and run a portfolio in full view of the market. From building the venture effort behind early bets on Open AI, Anthropic and Coinbase at Emerson Collective to now running two publicly listed funds that provide access to venture capital for Americans who do not qualify as accredited investors and therefore do not have exposure to private companies, Sarah reflects on the structures that make this possible and discusses how retail investors behave when the market turns.   Listen to the podcast here: https://lnkd.in/dw5fdbxR

  • We are pleased to share that Elizabeth 'Beezer' Clarkson, Managing Director at LGT Capital Partners, has been named the LP recipient of the Trailblazer Award by With Intelligence. • China’s private equity lull is a boon if you know where to look – this is what Brooke Zhou, Partner at LGT Capital Partners, told the The Wall Street Journal in a recent interview. She outlined the firm's approach to investing in China and explained why a less crowded market creates compelling opportunities for disciplined investors.   ▪️ As "cautiously contrarian" investors, we see China very much as a buyer's market – limited competition allows us to identify overlooked opportunities and negotiate attractive valuations and favorable terms. ▪️ We have continued to deploy capital in China throughout market downturns, concentrating on the small to middle market segment. ▪️ During periods of weak sentiment, we have been able to acquire high-quality assets at attractive valuations, with little to no competition. ▪️ Sentiment towards China has begun to improve, partly due to the emergence of competitive Chinese AI models in 2025. ▪️ The secondary market is the major growth driver for Asian private equity. • With IPEM Paris well underway, Les Echos Capital Finance has published a special conference edition. It asked André Aubert and Pauline Wetter about the structural shifts reshaping private equity and the opportunities they see across private markets today. The two Partners identified compelling opportunities in small- and mid-market buyouts and secondaries within private equity and also highlighted the breadth of strategies within private credit and the long-term structural tailwinds supporting infrastructure.   ▪️Private equity returns must now be earned through operational value creation and earnings growth rather than multiple expansion. ▪️In this environment, manager selection matters more than ever, with a premium on teams that can demonstrate genuine, repeatable value creation capabilities across market cycles. ▪️The secondary market has matured into a legitimate and sophisticated liquidity management tool. ▪️GP-led secondaries now account for roughly half of all secondary deal flow, more than double their share a decade ago. ▪️DPI has become the new benchmark for many institutional investors after years of limited exits.   Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ezGkHg8U

  • Private Equity International recently featured a roundtable discussion on Asia-Pacific private equity fundraising, including insights from Doug Coulter, Partner at LGT Capital Partners. In the panel, Doug shared his perspective on the region’s evolving opportunity set, highlighting LGT Capital Partners’ diversified approach to Asia, spanning both mature and developing markets in the region. Doug highlighted: ▪️As capital continues to flow into pan-regional mega funds, he believes many of these vehicles have become too large for the available opportunity set. In his view, the strongest alpha opportunities are to be found among smaller mid-market and growth managers. ▪️ LGT Capital Partners constructs its Asia allocation with balanced exposure across China, India, Japan and Australia, complemented by meaningful allocations to secondaries and co-investments to enhance return potential. ▪️ China’s secondaries market represents a generational opportunity, as family offices and endowments increasingly seek liquidity, creating attractive entry points into high-quality assets at compelling valuations.   Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ee6bSQer
