Arriving in a new city often starts with small questions: how to get online, which apps to use, and what the dishes on a menu actually are. As Shenzhen prepares to host the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, Tencent teams have been working on practical ways to make those first encounters easier for international visitors. From navigating unfamiliar systems to understanding everyday moments, these projects are designed to help visitors spend less time figuring things out and more time enjoying their trip. AI is a powerful tool that enables people to dream big, but human creativity is still critical, particularly in creative industries. That was the message from Tencent’s Brent Irvin, who just spoke at the FutureChina Global Forum in Singapore. He said AI enables small teams to achieve more than ever, such as smaller groups of video game developers that can now create experiences that once demanded far greater resources. That doesn't lessen the importance of humans, though. “You can’t replace taste, you can’t replace originality," Irvin said. Watch more from the panel discussion: https://lnkd.in/gmTxCr3Z

Video games have a unique way of turning strangers into player two. When a misdirected message sparked a connection between Jan and Tania, it eventually brought them to Lost Level, a local video gaming bar where they first met and, years later, tied the knot. With guests traveling from around the world without a shared language, the consoles became the ultimate icebreaker, giving everyone an easy way to connect or take a breather from the crowd. Player 2: Found is the latest story in our Play Belongs to Us All series. 🕹️

More than half of international travelers now use AI tools to plan their trips, and the shift goes well beyond simple search. A leading hotel group is using AI agents to handle guest requests across more than 10,000 hotels, with 95 percent response accuracy. One luxury property saw a 120 percent increase in high-value bookings after putting agentic AI to work. The next leap may not come from a single AI doing more, but from many intelligent agents working together, sharing context, coordinating in real time, and helping shape every part of the journey.

Ten years ago, a Tencent employee took QQ's penguin mascot and stretched it vertically until it stopped looking like a normal penguin. The team nicknamed it cháng é, a pun on Chang’e, the moon goddess at the heart of the Mid-Autumn Festival, an important time for family reunions in China. Long Penguin was never meant to outlast the meeting -- but somehow, it did. Believe it or not, Long Penguin is already turning 10 years old this year. So we’ve pulled together a few highlights from the past decade, from group chat greetings and internet memes to a plush toy that somehow gets 10 centimeters taller every year. Antony Faby connects Tencent with game studios across Europe, helping them get their games made and put out into the world. He describes his job as part diplomacy and part instinct, identifying what players love today and what they'll want very soon. The sneakers and toys he collects are part of that. For him, staying curious is important and should be protected — it’s not something to grow out of. It’s that curiosity that helps him bring ideas to life. 🎥 Watch Antony's story.

Bringing 11 esports events across six game categories under one consistent competition standard is a complex technical challenge. The Olympic Council of Asia has named Tencent Esports as its esports solutions provider for the 20th Asian Games. The Tencent Esports Competition Solution (ECS) will support every event, from equipment checks to live monitoring and post-match review. More from the team below.
Tencent Esports has been named the Official Esports Solution Supplier of the 20th Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. 👏 As the Official Esports Technology Partner of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), it brings 16+ years in esports and 20,000+ matches operated to the Games. Its self-developed Esports Competition Solution (ECS) will serve as the official competition system for all 11 esports titles at Aichi Sky Expo, Japan — September 22 to October 2. One venue, 11 competition days, and one system supporting 5 types of peripherals — keyboard, gamepad, racing wheel, arcade stick, and analog signals. Fair play runs end to end. Pre-match equipment check-in and unified calibration. Real-time monitoring of 30+ metrics during matches. Post-match review with a full audit trail — every step on record. For 99 Giving Day this year, Tencent teams around the world took a simple idea to heart and did good wherever they happened to be. What that looked like changed from office to office, depending on what each local community needed most. In New Zealand, colleagues cleared weeds and planted trees in a nursery garden, while the team in Singapore spent time with seniors and hosted an esports tournament for 40 of them. Teams in the United States put together medical kits for seriously ill children, and in the Netherlands volunteers carried more than 60 donated clothing items across town in heavy rain. There are plenty more highlights from the week in the slides! #99GivingDay #TechForGood

Most people are using AI more than ever, drafting, summarizing, researching, and planning with it daily. And yet, the work doesn’t always feel easier. Tencent Research Institute’s AI Native Work report suggests why: more tools don’t necessarily mean better results. How you organize tasks, guide AI, and review its output matters just as much. Our blog brings together eight practical tips from the report—from building reusable AI Skills and getting a second opinion on important outputs to redesigning workflows and keeping your own skills sharp. Read the full blog for practical ways to make AI more useful in your everyday work. https://lnkd.in/gMveU_84

Great to see our APAC team working with local partners to bring technology closer to culture and communities, from new digital heritage experiences to hands-on community initiatives. #TechForGood #Partnership
At Tencent, we've deepened our partnership with National Heritage Board and HeritageSG to advance digital innovation across Singapore's cultural spaces in 2026 — supporting new experiences at ArCH Square, the National Museum of Singapore, and the Asian Civilisations Museum to bring local heritage to life. Beyond heritage, our work in the community extended to Tencent’s annual philanthropic movement, 99 Giving Day, where our Tencent Singapore team gave back through a series of hands-on initiatives, alongside local partners such as CapitaLand Hope Foundation’s #LoveOurSeniors initiative, Ocean Purpose Project, RSVP Singapore The Organisation of Senior Volunteers and Singapore Red Cross, supporting meaningful causes across digital inclusion, senior empowerment, community health, and environmental stewardship. We are grateful to our partners for helping us carry this momentum forward, bringing technology and heart together to create lasting impact across Singapore and beyond. #Tencent #TencentSingapore #99GivingDay #TechForGood #Community #CSR #SingaporeHeritage
