Extracted in full from YIFY torrent page, some include company logos, restoration notes or credits which are not part of the original works (and therefore, copyvio that needs to be cut out). --Mayimbú (talk) 01:12, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have copies I can upload for about half of these (Keaton, Lubitsch, Murnau, Vertov, and maybe The Sheik). I can start on those and then, once that's done, work on trimming the others. Might be a good idea to take another look at Maciste all'inferno though. It isn't {{PD-old-70}}, and I don't think the {{PD-Italy}} claim works the same way for moving images. hinnk (talk) 04:01, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I struck through the ones that are finished. For Our Hospitality specifically, the version I have is slightly different (fewer marks and scratches, but otherwise looks identical to me). Unless @Yann is explicitly okay with overwriting it, I think the best approach would be to upload the new version to a separate page, replace the current file in articles, and then leave downloading, trimming, and reuploading the previous version for another day. hinnk (talk) 01:25, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hinnk: If your version is better, I am fine with overloading. Yann (talk) 06:19, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Adding 14 new files for review, 4 others files are marked for deletion. --Mayimbú (talk) 19:15, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  Comment I think that, while restoration doesn't create a new copyright, it still deserves some credit. But I will edit some of the videos. Yann (talk) 18:23, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Overwrite audio

I can't figure out how to overwrite the audio here while preserving the video. The 2nd revision has saved the noise-reduced audio, but I think I'm running into issues with the OGV container being treated as an audio file. If someone wants the original audio, I can happily upload it. Thanks. JayCubby (talk) 13:26, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JayCubby Is this about File:RefTools rework.ogv? hinnk (talk) 18:31, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hinnk, yes. I somehow neglected to add the file link. JayCubby (talk) 18:34, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  Done Brought in the original video with the noise-reduced audio. I think there was some kind of minor encoding error in the original video, but fortunately the re-encodings look good. hinnk (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a ton. For future reference, is Audacity a decent option for noise reduction, if you have any experience in the matter? JayCubby (talk) 18:49, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You know, I'm not too sure. It's been a while since I looked at what's out there, outside of some pricier solutions. I remember having had issues with Audacity stripping a lot of the higher frequencies, but they may have made significant improvements over the past however many years. I've heard nice things about ocenaudio. hinnk (talk) 22:10, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
