1If it's meant to be a Chinese-style stir-fry, it would be more authentic to cook the meat from raw. If you're not bothered about authenticity, by all means use cooked meat (but, as Tinkeringbell says, just cook it long enough to heat through).Kate Bunting– Kate Bunting2025-12-08 17:24:24 +00:00Commented Dec 8, 2025 at 17:24

Chicken and poultry should not be washed anyway, per USDA ask.usda.gov/s/article/…John Doe– John Doe2025-12-09 07:49:39 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2025 at 7:49

1@JohnDoe The question is talking about having to wash the utensils used to dice the raw chicken. I cannot imagine there is a USDA recommendation not to wash knives and chopping boards that have been used to cut raw chicken, since that would be a salmonella risk.Janus Bahs Jacquet– Janus Bahs Jacquet2025-12-09 08:44:32 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2025 at 8:44

2Frame challenge: you may be able to simply buy pre-diced chicken at the supermarket (I don’t know if that’s really a thing in Nova Scotia, but it seems to be a thing in the US). That way you don’t need to do anything at all, just dump it straight into the pan.Janus Bahs Jacquet– Janus Bahs Jacquet2025-12-09 08:55:04 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2025 at 8:55

There actually is a fancy word for this: Deconstructed! E.g. you can make Deconstructed paella where you cook the rice on its own.Thomas Koelle– Thomas Koelle2025-12-09 13:35:24 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2025 at 13:35

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. food-safety), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
