2024 Kirkland Signature Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Published: Aug 8, 2026 by Editor · 8 Comments

Kirkland Signature Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

It is a little surprising to see the newest vintage of this dependable Kirkland Cabernet arrive in stores in July. The previous 2023 vintage just landed in October, but we'll take it.

This is a solid wine year to year, and this vintage is no different. More of the same greatness, but get this...the price actually went down.

Kirkland Signature Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2023 vintage was $9.79, where the wine has been priced for a while. But this new 2024 vintage is only $7.99. That is a steal for a wine of this caliber.

Our ratings over the years are pretty consistent, 87 and 88 points.

2018 vintage: 88 points

2019 vintage: 88 points

2020 vintage: 88 points

2021 vintage: 87 points

2022 vintage: 88 points

2023 vintage: 88 points

Very similar tasting notes for the 2024 vintage compared to the prior one. It tastes like the same wine, and that's great because it was delicious and now the price is even better.

The wine is a medium to dark ruby in the glass, with dark fruit aromas, a little spice; leaning towards a full body with flavors of black cherry, jammy blackberry, and plum; a nice balance of dark chocolate, cedar and spice in the finish. Solid WA state Cabernet.

This is a huge step up from your everyday grocery store bottle in the same price range, and is just begging to be stocked up on.

We wouldn't be surprised if this one moves off shelves fast. Enjoy...this is why we buy wine at Costco.

14.5 ABV coming from WA? Yikes.

I spotted this wine but did not buy (yet). It now has a screw on cap, not a cork. Did yours? Perhaps the new cap is less cost and attributing to the price reduction.
For those whose wife (spouse) does not drink or drink alone, in past vintages, this wine has held up fairly well over three/four additional days after opening.

Yes screw cap. Totally fine for us. Looks like it might have been a screw top last vintage too. You can kind of see it in the photo in our review. https://costcowineblog.com/2023-kirkland-signature-columbia-valley-cabernet-sauvignon/

I also might add that if you use the "Warehouse" tab (next to "Account" on the bottom of the app) you can check availability at any location. If the result shows "Low Stock" then you can use the "Find Nearby" option to see warehouses where you can find the item.

I found this wine absolutely undrinkable. It tastes like a cheap, grocery store wine. Nothing interesting about it. A very generic wine.
