Lord Zeddan Graf is a human diplomat from the Dwendalian Empire. As the Empire's lead emissary, he is its diplomatic contact with the rest of Exandria. He loathes and maintains a fierce rivalry with Athesias Uludan, who serves a similar role for the Cerberus Assembly.

Graf appeared briefly at a distance in both "The Fancy and the Fooled" (2x97) and "High Seas, High Stakes" (2x99) as the Empire representative in the peace talks with the Kryn Dynasty, but he did not speak or interact directly with the Mighty Nein.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Zeddan Graf is a human male.[1]

Personality[]

Graf is fond of gossip, and as a socialite, he spent his time entertaining himself by collecting rumors. He is skilled at doing so, and even as a diplomat, he continued to seek out and collect rumors that might be politically useful. In his role as the lead emissary of the Empire, he was eager to do as the Crown instructed.[1] While at the peace talks with the Kryn Dynasty, he was smiling, confident, and charismatic.[2]

Biography[]

Background[]

Graf was a "beloved" noble and socialite who spent his time gathering rumors to entertain himself. His talent in this caught the attention of Sydnock Truscan, who recommended him to King Dwendal for the position of the Dwendalian Empire's lead emissary. In this position, he acted as the Empire's diplomatic contact with the rest of Exandria.[1] He had been "desperately" requesting that a skyship dock be built in Rexxentrum to make his travels easier,[1] but the king had refused to do so to maintain the Empire's isolationist policies.[3]

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein[]

Graf was first mentioned in "The Fancy and the Fooled" (2x97) as present at the party hosted by Zhafe Uludan in Nicodranas for the Dwendalian diplomats traveling to the peace talks with the Kryn Dynasty.[4] He represented the Dwendalian Empire in the peace talks and led their side of the proceedings, which took place in "High Seas, High Stakes" (2x99).[5] He negotiated with Dusk Captain Quana Kryn, during which he presented as smiling, confident, and charismatic.[2]

Campaign Three: Bells Hells[]

Zeddan was present at the meeting of the Exandrian Accord in Vasselheim following the defeat of their forces at the base of the Bloody Bridge. He pointed out the threat that the gods, in their increasing desperation to save themselves from the results of a potential release of Predathos, might not wait for the Accord to act.[6]

Relationships[]

Athesias Uludan[]

Graf has a rivalry with Athesias Uludan, who performs a similar role as Graf for the Cerberus Assembly and as such often runs into Graf abroad.[4][1] The two loathe each other,[1] and Athesias enjoys ruining or undermining Graf's plans.[7] Ludinus Da'leth remarked that, should Athesias decide to be present for the peace talks, it would be "interesting having to keep him and Zeddan civil".[5]

Appearances and mentions[]

Trivia[]

  • Graf and Athesias Uludan, his rival and counterpart in the Cerberus Assembly, have the same alignment: Neutral Good.[1][7]
