Info
Hi, I’m Roland Busch. President and CEO of Siemens AG.
Three facts about myself:
- I am a physicist by training.
- A problem-solver by nature.
- I believe technology is the most powerful tool humanity has.
At Siemens, we combine the real and digital worlds to create AI-powered technologies that accelerate our customers’ digital and sustainability transformations.
And these technologies are everywhere. They're often hidden behind the scenes, but if you look closely, you’ll find them enabling everything from smart factories and intelligent infrastructure to sustainable transportation and personalized healthcare.
It's what we call technology to transform the everyday, for everyone.
And it all happens thanks to the people of #TeamSiemens — empowered people with a growth mindset. People who are relentlessly focused on our customers. And people committed to delivering technology with purpose.

Roland Busch hat dies geteiltHallo aus Berlin! From 61 to 147 members. Over €850 billion in investments committed to Germany through 2028. That's the result after one year of Made for Germany, an initiative that Christian Sewing and I co-founded with fellow CEOs, aiming for a new way of politics and business working together. Yesterday we presented our first annual review with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil, Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche, and many of our member companies which are delivering on our investment commitments. One message is clear: our members have delivered. Now we need the Federal Government to deliver on structural reforms. First reform measures have been started, but we encourage the government to move bolder and faster on implementation - that's what Germany needs to stay competitive. #MadeForGermany is proof that our members are ready to invest. Now we need the framework to match that ambition. 💪

Roland Busch hat dies geteiltRail is where Data and AI meet the real world. 🚅 At InnoTrans, Siemens Mobility demonstrated how AI is revolutionizing the industry. Three ways how we're doing it: - AI-enabled design for competitive, high-performance trains. - A connected platform that links infrastructure, trains, and operations with real-time data and AI. - Predictive maintenance in the depot – so we fix issues before they happen and keep trains running smoothly. We’re bringing AI to every platform, every depot, and every single journey! Watch the video to see the highlights for yourself! P.S.: At 2 meters tall, I'm happy to report I can actually stand up straight in the new Picadilly Line trains we exhibited at the fair - also a big win! 🙌

Roland Busch hat dies geteiltMind the gap! Rail is entering its digital era 🚆 This week we're at InnoTrans – the world's leading trade fair for rail transport technology. And we announced some pretty cool stuff! Here are 3 things you shouldn't miss: - Siemens Mobility just signed a turnkey contract worth up to €1 billion with VinSpeed for two high-speed rail lines in Vietnam. It includes 10 Velaro Novo trains plus full signaling, electrification and communications systems. - ÖBB awarded us a €1.3 billion framework contract to digitalize their interlocking technology with Signaling X – our software-based, cloud-ready foundation for next-generation rail operations. - And RAILPOOL placed the first major order for our new Vectron X platform: up to 100 locomotives, including 30 Vectron X and 50 Vectron X Dual Mode units. Software-defined locomotives are no longer a concept – they're reality. Thanks to our customers for the trust and partnership – together we're driving the digital transformation of rail 💪 What were your highlights from InnoTrans? Let me know in the comments!

Roland Busch hat dies geteilt"You may be the most forward industrial company in Europe when it comes to using artificial intelligence." Had a fantastic conversation with Jim Cramer at Dreamforce about Industrial AI – how Siemens is combining the real and digital worlds, why precision matters when you're automating factories or building critical infrastructure and why hallucinations are not an option on the shop floor. Thanks for having me, Jim! 😉
-
Roland Busch hat dies geteilt45.000 people at Dreamforce, and everyone wants to talk AI. But: most people think AI means ChatGPT. Industrial AI is different. 1) It works with data most models have never touched. 2) It operates where hallucination is catastrophic. 3) And it powers the real world – factories, power grids, the products you use every day. That’s the difference between AI that suggests and AI that builds. And that’s what we’re working on at Siemens everyday! 😉 #DF26
-
Roland Busch hat dies geteiltMy first time at Dreamforce - and it was all about bringing Industrial AI to the stage. After joining Marc Benioff’s keynote on Day 1, we had an interesting fireside chat on Day 2 about transformation, partnerships, and what it takes to bring AI to the real world – where failure is not an option. Design, manufacturing, operations. That's where the real productivity gains are. Siemens is combining the real and digital worlds in the age of AI – helping our customers become agentic enterprises at scale. And we're doing it with partners like Salesforce who share that vision. Thanks for having me, Marc! 🚀 #DF26

Roland Busch hat dies geteiltEveryone talks about Consumer AI. We should talk about Industrial AI! At Siemens we’ve been combining the real and the digital world for quite some time now, building digital twins that behave like the real thing. AI is accelerating that! Industrial AI has to work where failure is not an option. Where AI gives you the same right answer every time. Hallucination doesn't fly on the shop floor. With Siemens’ data and domain know-how, we help our customers become agentic enterprises at scale. That's Industrial AI. 💪 #DF26

Roland Busch gefällt dasRoland Busch gefällt dasWarren Buffett wrote, “You only find out who is swimming naked when the tide goes out.” AI euphoria is producing some wonderfully convenient ideas: gross margins don’t matter; moats are dead; valuation doesn’t matter; unit economics can wait; retention is tomorrow’s problem. Every boom eventually discovers that arithmetic has remarkably good staying power. Machine intelligence is a giant leap forward for humans. It changes what companies can build, how quickly they can build it, and who can build. It does not repeal business fundamentals. Eventually the tide goes out. I suspect the companies wearing swimsuits will still look surprisingly fashionable.

Roland Busch gefällt dasRoland Busch gefällt dasWhat an absolutely incredible Dreamforce 2026! I've never been more excited about the future of software than I am right now. As I said in my opening keynote, it’s not the end of software. It’s the end of software that makes humans do all the work. We're at the beginning of an interface revolution. For decades, people have had to go to software, navigate applications, and search for what they need. Now, with AIforce, we're flipping that around. The enterprise comes to you, unlocking all the value of our platform and bringing it to every person and every agent, wherever they work. Grateful to Dario Amodei, Roland Busch, Jensen Huang, and Denis Machuel, who joined me in my opening keynote. Four leaders all pointing to the same truth: enterprises are barely scratching the surface of what AI can do. When you combine probabilistic AI with the deterministic systems that run your business, you unlock incredible outcomes and entirely new ways of working. Thanks also to Sam Altman, H.E. Omar Sultan AlOlama, Travis Kalanick, my friends at the All-In Podcast and so many others for great conversations throughout the week. Among the many innovations we showcased at Dreamforce: 🤖 AIforce — the live interface layer for the Agentic Enterprise, bringing your data, workflows, business logic, permissions, security, and governance to where people and agents work 💬 Slackforce — AIforce makes Slack even more powerful, bringing the full context and intelligence of Salesforce into every conversation, workflow, and experience ⚡ Claudeforce — AIforce extends our partnership with Anthropic, bringing the #1 AI and the #1 CRM together to create trusted enterprise intelligence 🧠 Koa — Salesforce's first CRM reasoning model, built on NVIDIA Nemotron And we showed once again how business is the greatest platform for change. Since Salesforce's founding and the creation of our 1-1-1 model: 💙 $970M+ given, all-time 🤝 10.84M+ employee volunteer hours 🎓 65.3K+ nonprofits and schools using free and discounted technology In San Francisco and Oakland alone, we've given $303M+, including $156M for Bay Area public schools — more than any company in history. Finally, thanks to everyone who came out for Dreamfest and those incredible performances by Gwen Stefani and Usher. We raised $8.2M for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals — $138M in all-time giving to the hospitals. None of this happens without the Trailblazers, employees, and customers who make Dreamforce what it is. Mahalo!

💚🇪🇺 Mobility is critical infrastructure. At the European Forum Alpbach #EFA26, I had the pleasure of joining the session “Acting at Speed: Emergency Measures for Peaceful Ambition.” Together with Manuel J. Heckmann, Managing Partner at Lineup Holdings, and Bengisu Berispek, Project Lead, researcher and lecturer at Technische Universität Berlin, and guided by our moderator Kalina Oroschakoff we discussed how Europe can turn its ambitions into implementation—faster, more decisively and with greater strategic focus. My key message was clear: Europe’s resilience depends not only on how we produce energy, but also on whether we can move people, goods and industrial resources reliably at all times—including during crises. Rail and public transport are strategic assets. Europe must accelerate fleet modernisation, invest in infrastructure, vehicles and digitalisation as one integrated system, and scale proven technologies. At the same time, procurement must recognise European value creation, cybersecurity, secure supply chains, lifecycle costs and reliable delivery—not simply the lowest initial price. Europe has the technology, industrial expertise and capital. What we lack is not knowledge, but the speed to turn decisions into operational infrastructure. My sincere thanks to Othmar Karas, Gabriel Karas, Johannes Schneeberger and the entire #EFA26 team for creating this important platform for open exchange, new perspectives and concrete European solutions—and to my fellow participants for an inspiring discussion. #HowEuropeWins #ŠkodaGroup #RAILFLUENCER #Mobility #EuropeanResilience #StrategicAutonomy #CriticalInfrastructure #MadeInEurope #PublicTransport #Rail

Great to be at IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hannover today – a good reminder that the transformation of mobility is not only about vehicles. It is about technology, materials, energy, infrastructure – and increasingly about regulation. What strikes me in many conversations here: innovation is global, while regulation is becoming more fragmented. Decisions taken in Brussels, Berlin, Washington or Asia increasingly have consequences far beyond their own borders and across entire global value chains. Whether we talk about electrification, batteries, chemicals and materials, fire safety or circularity, companies need to understand these regulatory developments early – and engage where the decisions are actually being shaped. This is where I see an increasingly important role for international regulatory diplomacy: connecting industry, policymakers and value chains across Europe and key markets such as Japan, Korea and other parts of Asia. Having worked on exactly these interfaces between regulation, industrial policy and global markets for several years, I am convinced that we need more of this cross-border dialogue – not less. Because the objective should remain simple: ambitious regulation, competitive industry and technologies that can actually make it to market. Good discussions in Hannover – and plenty more to come. AVAS: More noise – is it really useful? The introduction of the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System in electric vehicles is presented as a step forward for road safety. However, its current implementation is questionable: AVAS is permanently active at speeds below 20 km/h, regardless of the actual danger situation. Modern sensor technologies could enable noise generation that is tailored to the situation and based on need. Blanket activation falls short in this regard. In addition, the regulation applies exclusively to electric vehicles, even though modern combustion engines in automatic creep mode, for example, can also fall below the legal noise limits. This unequal treatment contradicts the principle of equal treatment of all drive types in the context of road safety. The argument that AVAS serves in particular to protect blind and visually impaired people must be viewed in a differentiated manner. These groups of people are generally particularly attentive to ambient noise. One advantage of electric vehicles, their quiet driving behavior, especially in urban areas and at night, is limited by AVAS. The mostly unnecessary background noise impairs the quality of life in cities. And some of the noises at least for me are just awful (Zoe, the “designed” sound of the Cooper SE). I'm not sure if the “pink noise” mentioned in the linked article, which led me to write this post, really helps. https://lnkd.in/dZAjY6FA And if we really think noise is permanently needed, why not music or whatever? I feel already your but… And don't get me wrong, road safety is essential, but it should be function-oriented, proportionate, and non-discriminatory for all types of drive systems. The current AVAS regulation therefore appears to be in need of revision. What do you think? #avas #safety #function #useful

Charge point operators want busy chargers. Logistics operators want free ones. A classic conflict of goals. We quantified it for electrified long-haul trucking on German motorways. The result: the two interests overlap more than either side assumes. The reason is charging prices. ➡️ Without sufficient utilization, public fast charging does not pay off for charge point operators. Those costs come back to the logistics operators through charging tariffs. ➡️ Too much utilization backfires as well. Long waiting times make trips avoid a site, and the operator ends up selling less energy. ➡️ So it can pay off for logistics operators to accept moderately higher waiting times, provided the lower charging prices outweigh the cost of the time. Instead of one single compromise, our optimization yields a whole spectrum of build-out paths. At a 10% electrification level, balanced configurations sit at 23% to 32% temporal charger utilization and 1.4 to 1.9 minutes of mean waiting time per charging process. A denser network with more sites helps the logistics operators, a leaner one helps the charge point operators. Two numbers that put this into perspective: For the business case, energetic utilization is the relevant metric. In the planned network we arrive at 13% to 15% at a 10% electrification level, assuming 1 MW per plug and mean weekday charging demand on five or six days per week. A study by Johannes Karlsson and Anders Grauers from Chalmers University of Technology (Energies, 2023) puts the profitability threshold for a fast-charging station at roughly 4% at a charging price of 0.40 EUR/kWh, which corresponds to the current Milence tariff, and at 20% to 25% if the price is to come down to 0.17 EUR/kWh. Read together, that suggests the planned network can carry itself at today's tariffs from a very early stage, while the room for substantially lower prices only opens up as demand grows. Eliminating waiting times altogether would take a far larger network. In the planned network, pushing the mean waiting time from 1.9 minutes down to essentially zero requires 64% more charging points, 2,348 instead of 1,429. Whether that is worth it is a question for the people who pay for it, in either currency. I would be interested in the view from practice. Would a somewhat busier but cheaper charging network be attractive to fleet operators, or does predictability matter more than the price in the end? Read the study: https://lnkd.in/davYpY-C Joint work with Tobias Tietz and Dietmar Göhlich, TU Berlin. #ChargingInfrastructure #Logistics #Electromobility #FreightTransport #eTruck #EnergyTransition

The Storytelling Tribe • 4777 Follower:innen
What convinced a ZF veteran to leave and start over? The realization that decentralized data infrastructure could achieve what centralized platforms never could: trust at scale. Thomas Rösch, CEO of Cofinity-X, joins "Under the Hood: Automotive Storytelling" to share the Catena-X origin story. And it's a great story. Three insights that stood out: 1️⃣ "It's like a USB stick now" → When 28 companies agree on connector standards, data sharing becomes plug-and-play. No more months of interface debates. 2️⃣ The network effect requirement → "If we get only 50 German companies, it's not an ecosystem. We need worldwide participation." Gaining traction is not always easy, but the shift in the automotive industry towards collaboration helps tremendously. 3️⃣ Cross-industry expansion → The same infrastructure works outside of automotive. Thomas' advice: "Believe and make it. That's really the story. So that's what I did, let's say my whole career. So if I believe in something, I really make it happen." 🎧 Listen to hear how belief and persistence built an ecosystem that's reshaping industrial data exchange.
