Persuading People to Move from Passive Consumption to Deliberate Action
Undoing the damage of overstimulation through writing, since 2015.
The Goal?
Run exclusively by me, Ivaylo Durmonski, and supported by Members. The underlying goal here is simple but ambitious:
Change readers.
Sure, I do content. Here, you will find a collection of actionable book summaries, long-form articles, guides on self-discipline and habits, and more recently, courses (on self-discipline, habits, and decision-making).
But I’m not in the content business per se. I am in the transformation business.
I view my content as changing readers. I want people who read to be transformed. Specifically, to undo the effects of constant overstimulation and restore the ability to read, think, and concentrate on what actually matters.
Why I Do It?
Act as a contra-force to shallowness.
We now live in an era of mass-produced mediocrity. An era where average has become the default.
Shallow ideas. Shallow art. Shallow content. And worst of all… shallow thinking.
While technology advances and information accumulates, attention collapses. We don’t read, we scroll. We don’t think, we skim. Meaning is everywhere, yet harder than ever to find.
This site exists to push back.
To prompt you to question the established modern beliefs that glorify consumerism, trends, and instant gratification. To present concepts and views that aid in rediscovering the value of focused attention. To help supporters fall in love with the process of creating, instead of consuming.
Who Am I?
I’m a 30+ year old guy living with a girl in Eastern Europe. I’m a co-founder of a boy. I read. I write. I have a job. I probably spend too much time in bookstores.
Some might say that I’m a blogger, a writer even, but after spending $3,500+ on books and 10 years of publishing online, I consider myself a creator. Carefully constructing writings to battle the cultural rot.
If you’re here, you’re probably not looking for more. You’re looking for better.
If so, welcome.
