Vladimir Sorokin is the latest resident of the Writing the Prado 2026 programme, a collaboration between the Prado Museum and the LOEWE FOUNDATION. Sorokin began his career in the 1970s as an artist and book illustrator before joining the Moscow literary underground. Provocative and visionary, his literary universe occupies a unique place in contemporary Russian culture. His work has been translated into more than 25 languages, and in 2013 he was a finalist for the Man Booker International Prize. During his residency, Sorokin will draw on the museum’s collections and history. Artworks such as Velázquez’s “Las Meninas” and Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights” will serve as inspiration for new writing, to be published by the museum and “Granta en español” magazine. #LOEWE
