  • What if satellites could be captured and assembled in orbit autonomously? With the completion of EROSS-IOD, that vision is becoming reality. GMV has achieved TRL 6 for key space robotics technologies, validated during final demonstrations at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), a decisive milestone for Europe’s on-orbit servicing roadmap. The project demonstrated autonomous mission control, robotic capture of prepared and unprepared satellites, and precision computer vision guiding the critical last 10 meters of approach. All orchestrated through ERGO, ESROCOS and advanced data fusion capabilities. This is more than a technical achievement. It strengthens Europe’s capacity for autonomous servicing, resupply and in-orbit assembly, essential capabilities for the emerging orbital economy. #SpaceRobotics #Innovation

Artemis II marks the moment when years of design and engineering become real hardware on the launch pad. As NASA prepares to send four astronauts beyond low Earth orbit for the first time in more than fifty years, this mission is not about landing on the Moon, it is about validating every system that will make sustained lunar presence possible. From life support performance in deep space to manual proximity operations without GPS, Artemis II is the critical rehearsal before returning humans to the lunar surface. Behind this milestone stands an international effort. Europe provides the Orion service module, Canada and Japan contribute key capabilities, and GMV supports the mission through system engineering, operational tools, real-time control support, and astronaut training. Artemis II is more than a test flight, it is the foundation for sustainable exploration, future lunar infrastructure, and the next chapter of human spaceflight. Los Angeles is hosting one of the key conversations in the space sector this week: the 30th edition of the Ground System Architectures Workshop (GSAW). The focus? How commercial innovation is transforming ground systems for government, civil and commercial missions, and what that means for the future of space operations. José Miguel Lozano and Juan Andrés Tejo are part of the programme, contributing to the plenary sessions and representing us in the technical exhibition. They’re sharing practical insights from real missions and showcasing our satellite control solutions in action. 🚨It’s the final day today! If you’re at #GSAW, drop by the exhibitor area and let’s exchange views on where ground systems are heading.

Space is entering a new phase of congestion. 30,000+ tracked objects. 10,000+ operational satellites. A surge in collision alerts driven by mega-constellations. Manual processes are no longer enough. Scalable automation is becoming essential. Under the European Space Agency - ESA’s Space Safety Programme, GMV is leading the integration of a ground-based Autonomous Collision Avoidance system designed to deliver end-to-end automation — from risk assessment to coordinated manoeuvre planning. By integrating AutoCA, AutoSTM and STCM, the system will enable automated decision-making, secure data exchange between operators and structured coordination of collision avoidance manoeuvres. Delivered in shadow-operations mode, it will allow operators to validate advanced autonomous capabilities within their own environments before operational adoption. As orbital traffic intensifies, scalable and autonomous collision avoidance is no longer optional, it is essential. #SpaceSafety

In a high-level discussion at the recent European Space Conference in Brussels, GMV General Manager of Navigation Systems Miguel Manuel Romay Merino framed the future of Europe’s satellite navigation ambitions around three priorities. “The key parameters,” he said, “are service continuity, resilience, and innovation.” These elements cannot be treated independently. “Imagine you have a system that provides good service continuity,” he said, “but it’s not resilient. In the end, the users will not be there. Or, say, you do a lot of innovation but you don’t have service continuity. You won’t have the trust of the users or the institutions.” Europe starts from a position of strength: “We should be proud,” Romay said. “EGNOS and Galileo are performing very, very well and have earned confidence by providing the performance, continuity, and high accuracy.” Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/ehrQUJWy #galileo #gnss

  • When a major crisis hits, terrestrial networks can fail in minutes, and without connectivity, coordination becomes the next challenge. As part of the GEXTRECS project, our #GMVteam has contributed to demonstrating how secure satellite communications can support emergency responders when traditional networks are unavailable or compromised. The work has focused on validating capabilities that enable secure information exchange, reliable connectivity, and operational continuity under extreme conditions. From a live cross-border exercise simulating a 7.4-magnitude earthquake and a full 5G outage, to the integration of tools that optimise and stabilise communications in real time, the work has focused on what truly matters in the field: fast deployment, operational simplicity, and resilience under pressure. https://lnkd.in/gqDYjD3M #GESTRECS #EUSpace #EmergencyCommunications
