📉 The number of pathologists is shrinking, year after year. In the US, supply is projected to drop 7% by 2037 while demand grows 16% over the same period, according to the Health Resources and Services Administration. The challenge isn't only about attracting new pathologists into the field. It's about keeping the ones already there. 💡 That's where AI comes in. Labs that have adopted digital pathology are already seeing it play out: Dr. McKenzie, a lab director quoted in a recent Becker's Hospital Review piece, shared that offering digital tools gave his team a real edge recruiting younger pathologists, who were excited about it. AI makes pathology more appealing to newcomers stepping into a field that's clearly moving forward. It gives more flexibility in how and where the work gets done. And it builds confidence in the diagnosis itself, for junior pathologists still building their expertise, and for experienced ones managing heavier caseloads.
