Some arcade games do have complex mechanics for advanced players, but generally anybody can still at least play with the basic mechanics of the game. | |

I'm thinking very specifically of the fighting games, where reading guides was nearly mandatory (even back then, albeit in printed magazine form). You COULD just insert a coin and mash buttons but nothing in the game told you that your character could throw a fireball, or how to do this. | |
