Sync Preset Mode with manual temperature changes?

Hi,

is there a native way to sync manual temperature changes with the Preset Mode?

Desired behavior:

• Manual change: Changing target temp manually should automatically set Preset to None.
• Auto-match: Setting target temp to a preset's value (e.g., 18°C) should automatically activate that Preset (e.g., Eco).

Currently, the states often get out of sync. Do I need an external automation for this, or did I miss a setting? Does anybody have an automation to do this?

This is already somehow the way it works
You adjust the values of each preset you have selected.
Then you can use any type of automation to choose/change the preset you want
And when using a preset ( for exemple ECO set to 16 deg) you can change the temperature to 21 deg and just come back to the 16 deg by using the eco button or use automation

Thanks for your answer! I understand how to use the presets to set the temperature.
However, what I am looking for is that the Preset State in the UI reflects manual temperature changes in real-time (bi-directional sync).

To be precise:

• Auto-Select: If "Eco" is configured as 16°C and I manually turn the dial/slider to 16°C, the system should automatically switch the state to preset: eco.
• Auto-Deselect: If I am in "Eco" (16°C) and I manually change the slider to 17°C, the system should automatically switch the state to preset: none.

Currently, the preset buttons act more like "One-Way Triggers" rather than a representation of the current state. I would like them to behave like a dynamic status indicator.

Well it is the way the NEST thermostat works
I think this could be a medium term feature
Priority for me is more to have a fully functional base.
But it is already an acceptable behavior
