After I shut down the server, the device changes its state to Commissioning and tries connecting to the wifi with the data provided from POST /settings. If the connection wasn't established, the device changes its state back to Configuration

It isn't clear from your code where is the Microdot server stopped. You have a /shutdown route, but I don't see it being called anywhere.

Did you try using the back button instead of typing the URL?

I meant getting back to a valid page by sending a request. It works by both using the back button and typing the URL

So where are the extra /shutdown requests coming from? Those have to be coming from your browser. Something you are doing is causing the browser to send those extra requests.

When I don't get back to a valid page, the '/shutdown' page starts reloading itself wildly all the time

One option that I think would work is to send the /shutdown request as an asynchronous request from JavaScript. This would prevent your application from navigating to /shutdown.
