GitHub Explore always recommends me the same uninteresting repos, and is just bad. I just want to find other open-source projects written in languages I also write, such as Go and JavaScript, so I can see how they make their projects, how they write code, and also for inspiration. Where on GitHub or on some other platform can I look for inspiration when I need it? And no, not Twitter.

If GitHub Explore keeps showing the same repos, there are a few ways to find interesting projects in Go, JavaScript, or any language you like:

• GitHub Topics: Check out repos by topic, e.g., Go or JavaScript. You can combine this with trending filters to see what’s active.
• GitHub Trending: See what’s popular recently: https://github.com/trending. This often surfaces smaller, high-quality projects you might not find otherwise.
• Awesome Lists: Curated lists of libraries and projects, often organized by language. Start here: https://github.com/sindresorhus/awesome.
• Communities: Reddit (r/golang, r/javascript) or Hacker News often highlight neat open-source projects.
• Code search tools: Sourcegraph lets you explore real code examples across public repos: https://sourcegraph.com/search.
• Libraries.io: Helps you discover projects by language, license, or popularity: https://libraries.io.

1. Use GitHub’s built-in search filters

You can search by language + stars to find high-quality projects:

language:Go stars:>500

language:JavaScript stars:>1000
You can also sort by “Recently updated” to find active repos.

2. Check GitHub Topics

Go to https://github.com/topics
and browse tags like:

#go, #golang

#javascript, #nodejs
These topic pages surface curated, trending, and recently updated projects.

3. Use "Trending" instead of Explore

GitHub Trending is far more relevant than Explore:
