GitHub Student Pack application rejected due to single-letter last name

Hello GitHub Support Team,

I am applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

My legal name, as shown on all my academic documents, is:
Manasvi V

I do not have a full last name. My last name is a single-letter initial (“V”), and this is exactly how it appears on my college ID and academic records.

While filling in the GitHub billing information, the system does not allow a single-character last name. Because of this limitation, I tried multiple formats:

• First name: Manasvi | Last name: V (rejected – last name too short)
• First name: Manasvi | Last name: .V / -V (rejected)
• First name: Manasvi V | Last name: Manasvi V (rejected)
• Same name in both first and last name fields (rejected)

My application was rejected with a message asking that the billing name exactly match the academic document, which I am unable to do due to the last-name validation restriction.

I kindly request guidance on the correct name format to use, or manual verification of my application, as my academic documents accurately reflect my legal name.

This is a known issue for students with single-letter last names. GitHub Student Pack verification is handled only by GitHub Education Support, not the community.

What you should do:

• Open a ticket via GitHub Education → Contact Support
• Explain that your legal last name is a single-letter initial and matches your academic documents
• Attach your college ID and enrollment proof clearly showing the name format
• Request manual verification due to the form validation limitation

Many students with similar naming formats get approved after manual review.
