Sorry if this has been answered already...I searched but got nothing helpful. When I publish my starter GitHub Pages site, I end up with this link https://xlsharp-dev.github.io/github.io/ rather than https://xlsharp-dev.github.io/. I know I'm missing something simple here. Thanks for the community's help!

Never mind...all set. RTFD (read the fine GitHub docs), and create the repo as xlsharp-dev.github.io rather than github.io (include username in repo name). Maybe this saves someone else some time!

GitHub Pages offers two types of sites, and the URL structure depends entirely on what you named the repo.
If you name your repository anything, GitHub treats it as a project site
To get the "clean" root URL, you must name the repository exactly following this pattern: your-username.github.io
