This is a valid gap in the current developer experience. While the "View quota usage" option exists in some IDE menus, it often just redirects you to the web dashboard rather than showing the data inline. However, because the GitHub API exposes this data, the community has built a solution for VS Code.
Extension Name: Copilot Premium Usage Monitor (publisher: fail-safe) What it does: It adds a live "Budget Meter" to your VS Code status bar. It shows your spending/usage percentage relative to the budget you set, updating in real-time without you leaving the editor. How to get it: Search "Copilot Premium Usage Monitor" in the VS Code Marketplace.
Click the Copilot Icon in the bottom status bar. Look for "View quota usage" (Note: In many versions, this acts as a deep link to the web billing page rather than an inline popup, but it is the fastest native shortcut available).
You can use the gh api command to fetch billing data. For example, if you are an enterprise user, the endpoint is: GET /enterprises/{enterprise}/settings/billing/premium_request/usage You could alias this command in your terminal to get a quick JSON dump of your usage without opening a browser: Bash (Note: Exact endpoint depends on if you are an Org or Individual user)Next Step: Would you like the direct link to the VS Code extension, or the specific API endpoint command to create a custom terminal alias? |

Hi,
For me GitHub Copilot is the best AI for product development. Others are not coming close and the option to select the right model for the right problem is excellent.
What I am missing is the option to see the consumption of budgets from within the IDE (VS Code and IntelliJ for me). I have to go to the Web UI's billing pages to see this information. I would like to have this information at my fingertips from within the IDE, but I haven't found the settings nor an extension for either IDE.
It's not in the GitHub mobile app on iOS either.
Ay idea how to get this information closer to where I need it?
Thanks,
Arc-E-Tect
