Observation

Even with Copilot Pro+, there is no mechanism to increase GitHub’s API rate limits beyond what GitHub assigns to your account tier. The system does not offer a “pay more for more usage” model. Rate limits are fixed globally per account type.

Issue

Many users are reporting the same user_global_rate_limited:pro_plus error, even under light usage. This strongly suggests a GitHub-side issue, not an actual quota exhaustion.

Notes

GitHub does not currently offer a scalable “pay for more API calls” model.

The platform enforces global caps to protect infrastructure, not to upsell usage.

The recent spike in reports indicates this may be a bug or backend problem, not legitimate rate limiting.

Makes sense. However, I'm not sure if this is simply caused by insufficient capacity in a specific model or region, rather than a strict global rate limit

Can't Copilot separate the rate limits for advanced models and 0x models? I understand that everyone wants to use Claude or other advanced models, and setting limits on them makes sense. But at least they should separate those limits so we still have something usable.

I'm a GitHub Copilot Pro+ user

I just woke up and started my workday, and I’ve already triggered the usage limit.

I only sent two extremely small requests:

1. Debugging a single console error.
2. Fixing one failing unit test.

That’s it. Both were minor tasks.

Same here, as a pro+ I am at 20% of monthly limits and getting this issue
if this is not fixed today asap Im cacelling this and moving away to another provider

I never used to get this: "you reached the rate limit ...". I am a light user and still getting this. In the middle of updating something somewhere in the code, you get this interruption from some rate limiter somewhere. Please do something, paid users are a priority for the health of the both parties.

Changing to other Ai Agents in Copilot does not fix this issue either.

I'm still experiencing the API Error: Rate limit reached error while being nowhere near my limit on my Max subscription.
