Hi everyone,

I am currently enrolled in the MSAI distance education program at UT Austin. Although my email has been verified, I have also shared my transcript and registration confirmation email. However, my enrollment is still being rejected.

Since you are in a distance learning program, the rejection is likely because your current location doesn't match the university's campus location.

To fix this, try the following:

1. Use your Phone: Apply using your smartphone's browser with Location/GPS turned ON.

2 . Mobile Data: Use your mobile data (4G/5G) instead of Wi-Fi, as Wi-Fi IPs can sometimes trigger location errors.

3. Profile Match: Double-check that your GitHub Billing Name and Public Profile Name exactly match the name on your transcript/ID.

This usually solves the location mismatch for distance students. Hope this helps!

I uploaded my previous semester transcript and admission letter, and I also used my mobile phone data as suggested. However, I am still facing the same issue.

If the mobile data method didn't work, there are two other common reasons for rejection that you should check:

1. GitHub Billing Name: Go to your Billing Settings and make sure your Full Name matches exactly with the name on your transcript. Even a small difference (like a missing middle name) can trigger an auto-rejection.
2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Ensure that 2FA is enabled on your GitHub account. GitHub often requires this for educational benefits to ensure the account is secure.
3. Primary Email: Is your university email set as your Primary email on GitHub? If not, try making it primary before your next attempt.

If it still fails, could you share the specific reason mentioned in the rejection email? It usually says something like "Your document does not show..." or "You are not near a campus." That would help narrow it down.

I have completed the requested steps: updated my GitHub billing name and profile name to exactly match my academic documents, enabled 2FA, set my university email as primary, enabled location access, and confirmed I am not using a VPN. I also uploaded my admission letter and previous semester transcript and tried using mobile data.

My full last name is “Ponnuchamy Lakshmanan,” so I am wondering if the system may be incorrectly treating part of it as a middle name.

Could you please review and let me know what else is needed?

Since you've tried everything, the name mismatch or the Distance Learning location is likely the main issue.

Try these two final steps:

1. Name Fix: Put your full name "Ponnuchamy Lakshmanan" in the Last Name field of your GitHub billing profile and leave the middle name empty.
2. Human Review: The automated system is clearly failing here. Open a ticket at https://support.github.com/contact but select "Account" or "Billing" as the category (NOT Education). Explain that you are a distance learner and need a manual review of your documents.
