GitHub Copilot is billed and managed through GitHub, not your Azure subscription. Your Azure subscription only comes into play in specific enterprise setups (e.g., consolidated Microsoft billing or identity integration with Entra ID). Otherwise, buying a GitHub Copilot license has no direct connection to Microsoft Azure. |

The Azure subscription is usually the billing channel, not the place where Copilot seats are directly assigned. For Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise, the normal split is:
So if you buy or enable Copilot through an enterprise setup that supports Azure billing, the Azure subscription is involved in payment and invoicing. The actual license assignment still happens under GitHub Enterprise or organization settings. I would check whether the account is an individual Copilot subscription, an organization Copilot Business setup, or an Enterprise setup first. The Azure billing connection mainly applies to enterprise/organization billing scenarios, not every standalone Copilot license. |

Hello, I would like to understand how GitHub Copilot can be accessed and managed through an Azure subscription. Specifically, I would like clarification on how the Azure subscription is linked to GitHub Copilot billing and licensing. Like if I were to get a Github Copilot license how is my Azure subscription getting involved?
