Hello everyone,
I am posting this to raise awareness about a severe, broken billing loop when upgrading from Copilot Pro to Pro+ mid-cycle. I have tried opening multiple support tickets, but the automated routing system keeps archiving and merging them, preventing a human from reviewing this transaction failure.
The Issue:
My standard Copilot Pro credits ran out. To continue working, I immediately upgraded my subscription mid-cycle to the Copilot Pro+ plan ($39/month) and was successfully charged the prorated difference of $29.
According to GitHub's usage-based billing documentation, a mid-cycle upgrade is supposed to grant immediate access to the higher tier's total included usage pool, minus the credits already consumed earlier that month.
Instead, my account dashboard immediately locked at 7,000 / 7,000 AI credits used (0 available credits), completely blocking my access to premium models. Because I was locked out due to this system error, I was forced to enable Additional Usage (Pay-as-you-go) just to complete my urgent work, costing me an extra $21.
The System Glitch (see screenshot below):

To make matters worse, look closely at my usage dashboard calculation. The system completely skipped my current monthly reset. It explicitly states: "Resets in 32 days on Aug 1, 2026."
The system has processed my money ($29 upgrade fee + $21 additional usage fees) but failed to provision the account status change, effectively locking me out for an entire month unless I continue to pay overage charges.
Has anyone else encountered this mid-cycle upgrade lock? GitHub team, please look into this broken backend calculation loop. It is completely blocking users who are actively paying more to get work done.
