Hello,

You are removing a lot of the models that i have paid for on my Pro Subscription (now legacy).

How can we mitigate this as the value will become 0 when only those without an exclamation mark remains.

My subscription runs until February 2027 - can you open up for replacement models?

If your Copilot Pro annual subscription is still on the legacy premium-request billing model and runs through February 2027, GitHub’s documentation says you can remain on that plan until it ends. Your plan will continue using premium requests and the applicable model multipliers; after the annual plan ends, it will automatically downgrade to Copilot Free.

GitHub is also listing replacement models for retired models—for example, Claude Opus 4.7 → Claude Opus 5, Gemini 3.5/3.6 Flash → Gemini 3.8 Flash, and Kimi K2.7 Code → Kimi K3. The current model-retirement table shows several retirements scheduled for October 2, 2026, so it would be useful to identify exactly which models disappeared from your account.

I would recommend:

Check the https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/ai-models/supported-models.
Check whether the replacement models are available in Copilot CLI and whether your account’s model-access settings are restricting them.
If multiple replacement models are unavailable, contact https://support.github.com and include your plan type, renewal/expiration date, affected models, and screenshots.
Ask Support specifically whether your February 2027 annual entitlement includes equivalent access to replacement models, or whether a prorated cancellation/refund or plan conversion is available.

Problem is that you guys included this small note a few days after the transition away from PR to consumption based:

However, since you are removing almost all of the models, you are in breach of contract/agreement - so I would either expect these models to remain or provide access to their replacement models.

Just fyi, most people answering here (me included) are regular users, not GitHub staff, so nobody in this thread can actually give you the models back. If you want something to happen you'll have to go through support.

I'd open a billing ticket at support.github.com, not a general Copilot one, since this is about what you paid for. Put everything in the first message: annual Pro on the old premium request billing, running until Feb 2027, plus both of your screenshots (the models with the warning icon and that notice that showed up after the switch).

Then ask for something specific. Either access to the replacement models until your term ends, or a prorated refund for the months left. If you just ask "why are models being removed" you'll probably get a generic answer back.

Also double check github.com/settings/copilot in case some of the newer models are just turned off there, otherwise that'll be the first thing they tell you.

Would be nice if you post what they say, there are probably more people on old annual plans running into this.
