Genesis 22:2 (NRSV)

He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.”

It is a avery unsual request and the only one in the scriptures, some may say it is a horrible thing for God to ask, especially when God new new that Abraham had great love for his son.

So, why did God ask Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a burned offering?
