Shane Byrne shared thisWe’ve been using Heroku since before it was cool. My cofounder, Philip Kirwan, was using it to create the first generation of iOS apps back in 2009 whilst still at college and when we joined forces to create Showoff back in 2012, it was the only show in town to build the foundations of our business upon. Then came Salesforce in 2013 looking for us to bring our skills to their customers to extend Salesforce beyond its own limitations, the sky was the limit. A lifetime of customers, projects and a EMEA Lighthouse Partner status, it has now become time to try something different. With Heroku announcing its end of sale today, new opportunities are going to present themselves. For some it will be business as usual and they’ll stay put but for other the chance to find a new PaaS will be the medium to long term plan. At Showoff we’re here to support you make the best decision for your organisation, to help you sweat the assets and to make the most of your digital investments. Here’s to the something new 🥃 #heroku #salesforce #herokupartners #salesforcepartners #paas

Shane Byrne shared thisGood morning Everyone, it’s been a while! As some of your may be aware Barry Sheehan PMP® and I are both heavily involved with Rathdrum Rugby Club from playing, coaching and working with kids from 4 years old up. With that being said our club is entirely ran on a voluntary basis and we are always looking to try to raise funds for running & growing the club. We are currently running our annual Christmas raffle and if you’re in a position to buy a book or even a few tickets we’d really appreciate it. You can even see the Showoff logo on the backs of our under 7’s jerseys, paired with a very youthful looking manager, trying to get a group of 6 year olds to stop saying ‘6,7’ and hold onto the ball 😂🏉 Thanks for your support and Happy Christmas🎄 🎅🏼👏🏼 https://lnkd.in/dQNm85Su

Shane Byrne shared thisHappy 4th of July to all our friends in, from and around the USA 🇺🇸 When I thought about America when I was younger, it was all about pro wrestling, big food, bigger cars, and Baywatch! Nowadays, I only think about some of those things when I think about the USA; I mostly think about our experiences in the US and the fact that we build products that support thousands of US citizens and support them to live their version of the American Dream. So, for now, we raise a glass to our friends, partners, and customers and hope you have a fantastic 4th of July. The primary driver? Salesforce’s recent announcement regarding mandatory security updates for Connected Apps and External Client Apps (ECAs). 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: Salesforce is tightening the belt on security. If your app relies on older authentication flows or legacy configurations, it’s no longer just a "tech debt" issue—it’s a compliance and functionality risk. These updates are mandatory to ensure continued trust and performance within the ecosystem. At Showoff, we occupy a unique intersection: 1️⃣ We are a long-standing Salesforce Partners with deep ecosystem knowledge. 2️⃣ We are a full-scale Software Development Agency capable of executing complex code modifications and architectural shifts. Echelon is proud to announce that its DUB20 campus in Arklow will become the Ireland’s first Government-aligned Green Energy Park under the LEAP framework. This is a major step forward in how energy-intensive infrastructure can be developed: - Co-located with offshore wind - Powered by onsite solar - Supported by battery storage - Designed to strengthen the national grid It’s a model that shows how digital growth and climate ambition can go hand in hand; how a high-energy can be part of the solution. Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O'Brien TD, described our project as “exactly the kind of forward-planned, sustainable development we want to see delivered under LEAP.” With up to €4.6bn in economic output and thousands of jobs supported, DUB20 is not just an infrastructure project – it’s a blueprint for sustainable digital development. Shane Byrne reacted on thisShane Byrne reacted on thisThe Era of Agentic Commerce is Here. 🤖 Great morning at Stripe Dublin HQ diving into Agentic Commerce. The takeaway was clear: we are moving rapidly from basic chatbots to fully autonomous conversational commerce. Key Highlights: • Smyths Toys Superstores is Leading the Way: CTO Rob Wilson shared how they’ve deployed many live agents. The impact? They moved from needing 70 extra seasonal customer support staff to zero. Robs advice: Build on headless, composable architecture with real-time inventory or get left behind. • Data is the New "Date": As Hilary Platt (OpenAI ) emphasized, if your data, APIs, and catalogues aren't machine-readable, the AI agents won't even swipe right on you. In this new world, if the LLM can’t understand your stack, you simply don’t exist to the consumer. • Don't Wait: As the panel noted, "You don't learn from waiting." Steven C. pointed out The transition from "Assistance" to "Delegation" is happening in real-time, but the customer remains at the heart of this retail evolution. Great to hear from and catch up with Kevin Dowling , Colin Banville and David Kilbride on all things Stripe. At Showoff , we’re already helping companies bridge the gap between legacy systems and this new agentic frontier. #Stripe #AgenticCommerce #AI #RetailInnovation #Showoff #OpenAI #FinTech #DigitalTransformation

Shane Byrne liked thisShane Byrne liked thisChange is a strange thing. It happens all the time but it's still unsettling for us humans. Some changes feel positive, like a pay increase or starting a new relationship. Some changes feel negative, like being made redundant or someone getting bad news about their health. Sometimes we are the instigators of the change, sometimes we are the receivers. Sometimes we embrace the change, sometimes we fight it. Sometimes the changes have a small impact, sometimes they are far-reaching. But if nothing ever changes, then things start to stagnate and eventually decompose. I'm not ready to decompose just yet 😁, so with the help of the very talented Eoghan Lynch of dot Designs my business branding has had a significant upgrade. It doesn't change what I do, or how I show up for clients, but for those of you who have never met me it does reflect me and my personality so much better. Yes, I'm from the 70s, and yes, I love colour (I'm fond of colourful language), and yes, I'm probably not your average corporate consultant. Maybe you might find this change unsettling, but do you know what? I bloody love it!!!!

Are you brave and honest enough to answer this ❓⁉️ - Are you the boss that's avoiding giving direction to your people on how/if/when/why to use AI? In Ireland, only 10 % of our SMEs report having a formal AI direction or policy in place. And yet 80% of managers report employees using free/public AI tools (like ChatGPT), even where company policies discourage them (aka the rise of “a shadow AI” culture). 👉 Without clear guidance, you’re not stopping AI use, but you are thwarting your people's curiosity and innovation, as well as leaving your data exposed. Who owns the risks if sensitive data is dropped into a public tool? ❓ Are your employees learning safe and smart practices, or are they winging it? ❓ And critically, how will you compete as others start to build AI confidence and capability while you stall? Being a leader today is more complex than ever. I work with leaders and your teams to equip you with the leadership skills and tools (including AI literacy) you need to lead in the new world of work. So that you can get back to making decisions confidently and timely. Giving your people a vision of your company's use of AI is easier than you think. Your best salespeople aren't always your own employees. Sometimes they're your mates who genuinely believe in what you're building. Last week, ✈️ Danny Waine 🏖 stood in front of the Irish Travel Association and showed them what Neural Voice can do. I wasn't there. I didn't ask him to do it. He just did it because he saw the potential. He showed a video of our AI voice agents handling real travel bookings. Natural conversations. Complex itineraries. After-hours support. The room went quiet. Not the bad kind of quiet. The "holy shit, this is actually real" kind of quiet. Here's what I've learned about building in the travel industry: Product demos are nice. Case studies are helpful. Sales pitches are necessary. But nothing beats someone who has zero financial incentive standing up and saying "You need to see this." Danny didn't sell Neural Voice. He showed what's possible. → Travel agencies capturing 100% of after-hours calls instead of losing them to voicemail → Complex booking conversations that feel completely human → AI that understands "we want somewhere warm, budget-friendly, good for kids" and actually helps The Irish travel market is about to wake up to what AI voice can do for them. Most travel companies are still thinking about AI as some distant future tech. Meanwhile, Danny's showing rooms full of industry leaders exactly what's working right now. This is how word spreads. Not through ads. Not through cold emails. Through people who've seen something work and can't help but tell others about it. When your technology is good enough that your friends become your advocates, you know you're onto something. Thanks Danny for championing what we're building. The Irish travel industry is lucky to have someone who spots the future before it becomes obvious. To everyone else: if Danny Waine is telling you to pay attention to something in travel tech, you should probably listen. --- P.S. If you were at the ITA event and want to see Neural Voice in action for your own travel business, message me. Happy to show you what Danny was showing them.

Feature | Why is access to finance so important for small businesses? 💰 Microbusinesses and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are an extremely important part of our economy. These businesses account for approximately three-quarters of all private sector jobs and turnover in Northern Ireland. However, small businesses can find it difficult to secure funding from traditional lenders. Steven Scullion explains why access to finance can help small businesses in Northern Ireland thrive. What to do With Your Money Now Bill Bonner, from Youghal, Ireland Our preference is always to buy land…or private businesses. But you can’t buy either willy, nilly. You need to have a reason…a plan…a purpose…some way to manage it and make it pay. And since time and energy are limited, and your attention is fully engaged elsewhere, you can’t often do it. A private business is best. Businesses — both private and public (those traded on the stock market) — are where the real money is. You can hold an ounce of gold or a bitcoin from here ‘til kingdom come; you will still just have an ounce of gold or a bitcoin. A house is much worse. In order to still have a house in 20, 50 or 100 years, you need to keep it up — insurance, taxes, new roof, new carpet. You get a place to live…not an investment. Businesses give you something more. They combine labor, skill, luck, and resources — all of which come at a cost — and offer a product or service that is worth more than the ingredients that went into it. That is the profit that is at the heart of capitalism and material progress. It is also how most people get rich. They dip their cups into that stream of profits…and fill their own pools of wealth. In this regard, private — tightly controlled — businesses are much better than ‘public’ companies. That way, you get to enjoy the income, the corporate perks, and tax deductions yourself. Wall Street companies are rarely profitable for outsider investors. Instead of getting 100% of the profits from a private company, you’ll be lucky to get a 3% dividend yield. And maybe the stock will go up. Or maybe it won't. In a large company it is very difficult to hold down costs. And at the top, there is simply too much temptation to spend money on empire building, new technology, unnecessary employees, incentive compensation, pensions, acquisitions, deluxe headquarters, corporate jets and so forth. There are also the unavoidable legal, accounting, and public relations costs of being public. Unless management is diligent and determined, the costs will rise to meet the level of income (or rise above it!) and the employees will be taking off for Juneteenth, whatever that is. A finance professor from Arizona concluded that more than 50% of stocks “had negative cumulative returns" over the long run. And studies show that very few companies actually produce life-changing gains for outside investors.

💡 AI and eCommerce - done right - ☘️Irish Edition. Great article in todays Irish Independent by Adrian Weckler highlights Lenehans Hardware on Capel Street a 100‑year‑old, family‑run Dublin store, as a stellar example of small‑business innovation and AI done right!! By embedding ChatGPT and DeepSeek into their e-Commerce platform and chatbot, Lenehans has transformed: ⭐Their online store improved product searches and tailored recommendations ⭐Customer support from framing advice to DIY guidance ⭐Sales quadrupling turnover in just a few years I have tried out their chatbot it’s fast, intuitive, and genuinely helpful, especially for a non DIYer. Their success is a great example of how AI is not only for big corporate organisations with massive tech teams. 👏 Congratulations to Mark Lenehan and all the team in Lenehans, a blueprint for delivering AI-powered transformation in traditional retail. They weren’t hiding anything. Just missed a few important details. Here are 3 common red flags Irish Revenue is watching closely in 2025: 🚩 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Hiring contractors but treating them like employees. Easy mistake, big problem. 🚩 𝗨𝗻𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Especially for U.S. companies with Irish branches. If transfer pricing isn’t documented properly, it catches attention. 🚩 𝗔𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥&𝗗 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 If your credit amount seems high with little backup, it could invite a review. Most audits we see are avoidable. But only if someone’s actually looking at your books the right way. If your business touches both the U.S. and Ireland — let’s make sure you’re not on that radar.
