In Memoriam – Er. S. Rajagopal & Mrs. R. Vanitha Rajagopal It is with profound sorrow that the Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) mourns the passing of Er. S. Rajagopal , Former President, EOAI (1995–1997), and Mrs. R. Vanitha Rajagopal, who passed away on 8 September 2026. Er. S. Rajagopal was a distinguished leader who served as President of EOAI from 1995 to 1997 and made significant contributions to the essential oil and allied industries. His leadership, commitment, and service to the industry will continue to be remembered with great respect. Together with Mrs. R. Vanitha Rajagopal, he leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, and service that will remain in the hearts of all who knew them. Building a stronger future for India’s Agarwood Oil industry. A few glimpses from the Industry Summit on Prospects & Export of Agarwood Oil from India, held on 11 August 2026 at Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi. Organised by Chemexcil in association with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MoDoNER), and in technical collaboration with FFDC Kannauj, the summit brought together government representatives, researchers, cultivators, processors, exporters and industry leaders to explore the growing potential of Indian Agarwood Oil. The summit was graced by the presence of Shri Sukanta Majumdar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region & Education, Shri Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary, MoDoNER, Shri Angshuman Dey, Joint Secretary (MoDoNER) and Chairman, Agarwood Steering Group, Shri Vishal Ganju, Executive Director, CHEMEXCIL, and Shri Shakti Vinay Shukla, Director, FFDC, Kannauj. EOAI delegation at the summit included: Mr. SUNEET GOEL, President Mr. Piyush Gupta, Treasurer Dr. Pradeep Kumar Khandelwal, Administrative Secretary Mr. sanjay varshney, Immediate Past President Their participation brought the voice and interests of India’s essential oils industry to this important industry dialogue. The summit also witnessed the presence of Mr. Yogesh Dubey, President, Aroma Federation of India and FAFAI, and Dr. Rohit Seth, President, Sugandh Vyapar Sangh, Delhi, among other distinguished dignitaries. The discussions focused on cultivation, processing, quality, value addition and export opportunities, with a clear emphasis on strengthening India’s position in global markets. With stronger collaboration between government, research and industry, India can build a more organised, sustainable and globally competitive Agarwood Oil value chain.
