What happens when the water beneath India’s breadbasket begins to disappear? Punjab feeds millions, but decades of water-intensive agriculture have pushed its groundwater deeper and deeper. Through maps, satellite data, and voices from the ground, this StoryMap explores where groundwater is declining, where agriculture and water stress collide, and where signs of recovery are beginning to emerge. Explore the story of Punjab’s invisible water crisis and the pathways towards recovery. https://lnkd.in/gqddpdqq Manjunath Kurabet #EsriIndia #GIS #StoryMapChallenge #ArcGIS #StoryMap

Congratulations to Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on the launch of its Land Use Plan, under the Master Plan Delhi (MPD) 2047, available as a GIS-based Interactive Digital Map. The new digital map provides citizens, property owners, planners, and other stakeholders online access to precise information about their area or plot. Users can search for a specific area, location or property, zoom in and directly view its designated land-use category. The interactive map also brings together multiple planning layers, including residential, commercial, industrial, recreational, transport, utility, government, public and semi-public uses, agriculture and water bodies. The system is intended to keep planning and land-use information current as Delhi's spatial characteristics change. This is a significant milestone in GIS-enabled governance and digital transformation. By making planning information more accessible, DDA is creating greater opportunities for citizen awareness, community engagement, and transparent urban governance, while providing planners and stakeholders with a stronger digital foundation for informed decision-making. What if India’s power grid could see, predict, and respond before disruptions happen? As the power network grows more complex, GIS brings together assets, operations, and location intelligence, to help utilities plan better, manage outages, and strengthen grid resilience. Explore how GIS, AI, and GeoAI are helping power utilities move from reactive operations to predictive, data-driven decision-making, and build smarter, future-ready networks. https://lnkd.in/ee-F6k3b #EsriIndia #GIS #LocationIntelligence #Utilities

What if we could map where India’s next critical mineral discoveries might be? Before the first drill goes into the ground, GIS can bring satellite imagery, geophysical, and geological data together to reveal patterns and narrow down promising areas. Explore how GIS is helping turn complex exploration data into clearer targets and map the path to India’s critical mineral future. https://lnkd.in/eiWmzgY3 #EsriIndia #GIS #Mining #LocationIntelligence

At India International Water Week, that took place from 22–26 September at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Suneet Manjavkar (Industry Head – Water-BD, Esri India) presented a case study on the Digital Project Management System (DPMS), the Jal Jeevan Mission platform of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) developed by the team at CSTech Ai, Nagpur. The platform represents an institutional reform covering 927 multi-village rural water schemes, bringing together diverse forms of data, from surveys and planned hydraulic model attributes to constructed asset information and location-based data, to support the effective delivery of public infrastructure. Built as an ArcGIS-based enterprise system with field mobile applications, DPMS connects stakeholders and enables asset verification, as-built drawings, and monitoring of scheme progress against planned versus actual execution, strengthening accountability across projects. The system also builds the capacity of village-level scheme owners by providing a complete map of assets and relevant engineering details in a simplified format, supporting sustainable operations. By giving village communities easier access to baseline information and field-verifiable assets, the platform empowers them to better understand and monitor their water infrastructure and supports the delivery of assured, quality, and functional tap-water services. At the Esri India Booth, the team showcased solutions for building climate-resilient water systems, demonstrating how location intelligence can bring greater structure and context to water-related data. The solutions highlighted the role of data standardisation and dissemination in creating more connected information ecosystems, while enabling decision-makers to turn data into actionable insights, identify areas of intervention, and support more informed water management.
