Intercontinental Cry (IC) is a non-profit newsroom that provides tactical and investigative journalism centered on Indigenous Peoples, climate change, biodiversity, and human rights.
Over the last 20 years, IC has covered stories for more than 650 Indigenous nations around the world. Our reporting has contributed to the passage of new laws, it has helped catalyze movements like #IdleNoMore, and it has exposed the harmful practices of corporations, governments and private interest groups in more than 100 countries.
As a nonprofit newsroom, IC is funded exclusively through donations. This allows us to remain editorially independent while ensuring that we can cover the costs of investigating what other newsrooms ignore.
But we don’t just cover stories at IC: We monitor world events for opportunities to catalyze justice movements; We call attention to frontline defenders and journalists under threat; We educate the public by exploring indigenous histories, cultures and worldviews; We provide Indigenous Peoples with a space to tell their own stories without intermediaries; We produce independent documentaries, podcasts and books that fill existing gaps.
Ultimately, it is our goal to inform, educate and inspire the public—not just as passive observers, but as active participants in the global struggle for justice. We believe that storytelling is a powerful tool for change, especially when it is grounded in truth, accountability, and Indigenous self-representation. At IC, every article, documentary, and campaign is rooted in a vision of a more equitable world where Indigenous rights are not negotiable, ecosystems are protected, and communities are empowered to define their own futures.
