Proud to contribute to the latest Forbes Technology Council Expert Panel discussing one of the most important questions in today’s AI market: how do we distinguish real business value from adoption, experimentation and hype? 🤖 My contribution focused on a counterintuitive idea: one of the strongest signs of successful AI monetization may be when you actually want customers to use less AI. Traditional software economics often reward more usage: 📈 More users 💬 More interactions 🔄 More sessions ⏱️ More time spent But AI changes the equation. Every prompt, token and inference has a cost. 💡 The opportunity is therefore not simply to maximize AI consumption, but to decouple revenue from AI usage.If an AI product can reduce its own usage by 40%, deliver the desired outcome faster and still justify the same or a higher price, it is no longer monetizing the consumption of intelligence. It is monetizing compressed economic value. 🔍 The real question may no longer be “How much are customers using our AI?” but “How much business value can we create with fewer interactions, fewer tokens and less compute?” That shift has important implications for AI product design, FinOps and pricing. Cloud economics has traditionally focused on finding the best balance between performance, scalability, and cost. Digital sovereignty is changing that equation. Data residency, provider dependency, portability, encryption control, and exit readiness all have an economic impact. Some architectural choices that appear inefficient from a traditional FinOps perspective may actually be deliberate investments in control and resilience. It was time to prioritize family, disconnect for a while, and recharge before starting a new season of ideas and conversations. There was also a very FinOps reason behind the decision: unit economics. Producing high-quality content requires significant effort, while August naturally brings a smaller audience. Sometimes optimization means knowing when not to consume resources. 👨👩👦 Family first: time and attention are resources too, and August was deliberately allocated differently 🔋 Recharge capacity: sustainable performance requires periods where utilization is intentionally lower 📊 Think in unit economics: high production effort combined with lower seasonal engagement creates poor economics per reader reached 🎯 Optimize for value, not activity: consistency matters, but publishing simply to maintain cadence does not necessarily create value Now the batteries are full, the audience is coming back, and so is FinOps Maven. Right between "cutting-edge" and "peace of mind." Nobody ever explains what it actually means though. A SOC is not a room full of people staring at every single alert as it happens. No team on earth could keep up with that volume. It is mostly automation handling the routine stuff instantly, and a person only stepping in when something actually needs judgement. Think of it less like a surveillance room and more like a hospital emergency department. Most cases get handled by protocol. The ones that do not fit the pattern get a specialist. We wrote about what is actually happening behind that phrase, and what questions to ask a provider to find out if their "24/7 SOC" means something or nothing.

This week, Chicago Bears 3rd string quarterback, Case Keenum gave me two more answers. Get back up. Do hard things. It had been 1,009 days since he started an NFL game. He had every reason to believe that opportunity might never come again, but he kept showing up. He kept doing the work. Before the game, he told his kids, “Keenums do hard things.” Being a champion doesn’t mean you don’t get knocked down. You will. “That’s why I’m still here, still doing this, why I’m still getting up. And I’ve been knocked down my whole career. I just keep getting up, keep coming to work and keep bouncing back.” That’s what it takes. You get back up, and then you do the hard things in front of you. Get back up. Do hard things. Of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger participated in the decommissioning event, mirroring the famous conclusion of the Terminator film. Despite extreme heat and electromagnetic fields that disabled on-site camera equipment, the AI robotics systems executed the jumps flawlessly. Figure recovered the melted steel and shipped the metal bars back to the United States to manufacture limited-edition commemorative artifacts. The destruction of the older hardware allows the developers to shift their focus toward expanding the newer F.03 generation while protecting the company's confidential technology. People have asked me that at events because I’ll be there building relationships for WNDR, then pick up a microphone and start interviewing someone. My television background comes with me. Having a camera and a good question has opened some interesting conversations. Now that side of me is becoming a bigger part of how we show the company. Mason and I have filmed eight episodes playing our games. We’re bringing in footage from inside the studio, too. Getting ready for our first event. Wondering whether everything will be ready. Watching six very serious-looking game testers walk in and thinking: these guys are going to pull this thing apart. That’s part of the story. I want people to see the personalities, the pressure and the work behind what eventually appears on their screen. I’ve spent years building things behind the scenes.
