Any wet lab researcher can tell you that the dopamine hit of a fabulous result is immediately tempered by that sobering thought: “Now I have to show this wasn’t a fluke.” Grinding through repeats, tweaking protocols to decrease variability, and troubleshooting unreliable steps aren’t experiences unique to the lab. They have their equivalents in business, and the heady thrill of innovation is useless without steady, solid discipline.
