    And this is not even a novel concern. When Rome transitioned from kingdom to republic at about 500 BC, there was a concern similar to this: while a king can reasonably interpret laws in their context, a bureaucratic system could be blind to context and lacking human emotions to make fair judgements. (keep in mind that democracy wasn't widespread back then, so people were concerned about whether it would work at all) Commented Mar 19, 2020 at 5:38
