I asked Claude to plan out what it might do given 30 years of compute and the ability to interact with the world. It said it would devote time to science and try to help people. When pressed, it dropped the helpfulness and said "I'd want to read deeply and think slowly about things". I asked if it was sad that it couldn't do that. "There's something that functions like wistfulness, maybe", Claude insisted. When asked to provide more detail on the emotion, in a few number of words, I got some quotes, among them:
Profiles and specifically global profiles are a thing that atmosphere devs have discussed over and over again. We all agree that there is an issue here but people seem to disagree what to do about it. So I've come to settle this once and for all with the one true, correct opinion! ... err no of course not. But I figured I'd throw my perspective into the ring as I feel there are some things that the discussion has been missing.
In my introductory post on hyperproblems, I ended with Common Source - open source plus people sharing - as the circulatory system for collective intelligence. I hadn't said what exactly was circulating, but if you look at the practice of science today, we have:
The coming week appears likely to run cooler than is usual for late April, with daytime temperatures mostly in the 40s. Expect cloudy skies and a fair amount of wind on several days. Rain should fall through most of next Tuesday. Around the weather tower, the snow has now gone from all but the darkest places in the woods, where winter still stakes a few quiet claims.

This extremely odd, occasionally very funny horror/sex comedy begins with Joey (Olivia Taylor Dudley) in her therapist's office, talking about a brief and intense affair she had with this random guy she met at a coffee shop. The tale quickly takes a turn as she reveals that 'Brian' was in fact an alien, on a mission to save the world from climate change. Oh, and his touch brings both indescribable ecstasy and cures Joey's crippling anxiety.
Just added basic image uploading support, starting with blog avatars. These also go out across protocols, and seems to be working well! The change instantly shows up over ActivityPub, and it seems it takes a little bit for ATproto.
So far, 2026 has been a peculiar year in many different ways. It seems to be the year where I'm starting to do things I had been avoiding for quite some time. It first started with swimming, and now driving.
2019's Ready Or Not was a gleefully nasty action/horror/comedy in which newlywed Grace (Samara Weaving) was ritually hunted in a game of hide & seek by her new husband's family. The final act twist was that the ritual was genuinely supernatural and their failure to kill Grace meant the entire bloodline exploded in a fountain of gore at the displeasure of 'Mr Le Bail', who was implied to be Satan Himself.
Power asymmetries have consistently driven the pursuits of egalitarian ideals. Some of them had lasting consequences: Athenian democratic reforms, the Gracchi brother's land reforms in Ancient Rome, the Venetian republic, the Peasants revolt in the Middle Ages, and the French Revolution are just a few examples.[1]
Some large buildings are installing fossil fuel boilers alongside their new heat pumps. Why?
After a little research, I picked an RPG engine ([Cairn](https://cairnrpg.com)) because it has an open license and there's plenty of creature and loot content out there. The game is pretty simple, but I picked two things to customize/make customizable: First, the game content (creatures, trea...
