Online Learning Resources
Online learning resources, or e-learning resources, are tools built for virtual environments, typically on the internet. Content is shared through technology like computers, phones, or tablets, and can be convenient to access.
The online learning resources created by USU Libraries includes:
Self-Guided Courses and Modules
The library has created Canvas modules and self-enroll courses to support instruction! These provide an easy way to integrate active learning into information literacy instruction. They can be used in a traditional face-to-face class, flipped classroom model, or as stand-alone assignments. The modules and courses encompass subjects like citing sources, research concepts, avoiding plagiarism, and much more.
Self-Enroll Course Previews:
Search in Canvas Commons for more samples of the library's Canvas materials! To import a Canvas module, review these instructions.
If you are interested in using or developing any of these materials, contact your library liaison team for assistance.
Instructional Videos
Instructional videos are highly effective educational tools used for a wide variety of concepts and demonstrations. Videos are a great way to engage a large number of students while providing specific and valuable information. They are an online library resource available 24/7 to support students in discovering discipline-related resources and learning research skills and concepts.
Some covered topics include:
- Citing sources and citation managers
- Searching in specific databases
- Conduction literature reviews
- Choosing keywords or topics
These can be embedded in your Canvas course, in a research guide, or just send the video links to your student. Please visit the library's YouTube Page to discover our instructional videos.
Research Help Guides
The library's research guides are great tools for instruction on specific topics, subjects, and library services. Research guides can be created for specific courses, too! It's easy to embed them in Canvas courses to support instruction. They are accessible within a course by clicking the "Research Help" tab on the course's side menu. If the tab isn't visible, contact your CIDI representative.
