The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in breast cancer screening is transforming the field of radiology, offering pioneering approaches to enhance early detection and improve diagnostic accuracy. Mammographic screening is the area where AI can have the most immediate clinical impact. This Special Collection aims to collect groundbreaking studies on AI-driven technologies, such as machine learning and large language models, with their clinical applications, providing a centralized resource for original research and reviews. The collection is open for submissions, inviting researchers to contribute novel insights and methodologies. All submissions will undergo regular peer review process.

Clinical activity is mainly centred on prostate MRI, female pelvis imaging and gastrointestinal and abdominal imaging.

    Simone Schiaffino is head of the breast imaging group at the CSSI (Centro di Senologia della Svizzera Italiana) in Lugano. He is member of the European society of breast imaging (EUSOBI) Scientific and Young Club committees, Swiss Society of Senology MIBB Group president and secretary of the Breast imaging section of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology. He is member of the Editorial Board of European Radiology Experimental and European Journal of Radiology. Areas of research interest include breast lesions of unknown malignant potential, breast cancer screening and breast MRI.
