What sources influenced Byron's Fragment"Fragment of a NovelNovel"?

Lord Byron's "Fragment of a Novel" is an unfinished story about a vampire. (It's not clear from the story that the man is a vampire, but at least according to this site, Byron said that the man would have arisen from the dead to feed on the upper class.)

What sources influenced Byron's writing? Wikipedia and the site I mentioned above quote Byron mentioning a story recorded by Honest Tournefort, who apparently recorded some vampire folklore. Are there any known sources that Byron used for his story other than folklore and his own imagination? Byron's story and John Polidori's storynovella based on it, The Vampyre, don't seem to have much in common with the vampire folklore I have heard about. Was Byron influenced by any previous fiction?
