  • $\begingroup$ If I am not mistaken this still involves doing pattern matching (or similar) "twice", once for the Collect, and once for the replacement. I would like to avoid doing this "double work", since in principle in the first Collect Mathematica already knows which coefficients and Gs it is dealing with, and how they are paired. $\endgroup$ Commented May 13, 2020 at 15:09
