6$\begingroup$ Would you like to tell us what this annoying journal is, so that we can think twice about submitting to it? $\endgroup$Tom Leinster– Tom Leinster2017-09-26 20:15:32 +00:00Commented Sep 26, 2017 at 20:15

5$\begingroup$ @TomLeinster: I think all AMS journals have this policy. I know Transactions does. $\endgroup$Nate Eldredge– Nate Eldredge2017-09-26 20:40:07 +00:00Commented Sep 26, 2017 at 20:40

1$\begingroup$ @NateEldredge It might be redundant; but having the issue number has helped me save some time and effort in finding articles on occasion. $\endgroup$Pace Nielsen– Pace Nielsen2017-09-26 21:16:05 +00:00Commented Sep 26, 2017 at 21:16

4$\begingroup$ Have you approached the editor-in-chief about what the production staff refused to do? I once encountered a stubborn production person at some other journal, explained the absurd situation to the editor-in-chief, and he got it fixed in a satisfactory way. Don't settle for someone who insists on publishing incorrect bibliographic data. $\endgroup$nfdc23– nfdc232017-09-26 21:25:21 +00:00Commented Sep 26, 2017 at 21:25

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. ag.algebraic-geometry), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
